Hey guys starting working on the skyline a couple of weeks ago getting it ready for its new paint job.

Paint: 8m7 2006 Toyota Camery Blue Ice pearl metalic with 280g of extra pearl

All bolt on items are in primer

Doors inside and out

Front guards

CF Bonnet

Boot and wing

Tail light surrounds

Front bar

Grill

Still have the rest of the body to but all the windows are out, just have to do a repair on the LH rear guard and the rest of the car will be in primer this weekend.

Working on the engine bay atm cleaning up all the un-used holes and smoothing the engine bay aswell as seam welding the towers.

Thanks for keeping me in the loop.

Otherwise I'd never know how much I should appreciate attention to detail like this.

I'm interested in your thoughts about how you decide on grades of sandpaper later on.

Cheers,

Tez :P

nice project - looks like you havent done the seem welding bit yet - dont do too much work around that area until you get the welding done as most of the filler near there will be ruined with the welding.

try to wire brush all the scorching around your welds too before hitting with filler :( helps keep as little contamination between the filler and the metal.

from what i have been told full seam welding is actually a bad idea, things still twist and flex a little, full seam welding will result in breaks and cracks else where, stich welding is the way to go.

    • Definitely a hearty eater when we go out, I consider these meals my cheat day as I've been watching my calories in and calories out pretty hard since my little fun size stroke, I've gone from a fat boy of 89 Kg, I'm only 165cm tall/short, down to a almost semi lean 73 Kg over the last few years, I'm currently around 17% body fat which my doctor is very happy with, but, my goal is to slowly get down to and maintain 15%,so yeah, I want all of the protein, carbs, fats and sugars when I go out for a binge
    • There was a great one on Victoria Rd in Gladesville too back in the day. I can only assume GTSBoy is thinking of the mill up on the wollondilly, no restaurant there any more but they have restored the original steam engine on site and run it every few months, have an annual steampunk festival etc @The Bogan, you came to the wrong town for restaurants. we have a few reasonable asian and indian options but the Paragon is as good as it gets otherwise. That brewery is apparently just opened, been meaning to give it a go some time. The Highlands have plenty of fancy options but I suspect you are more a hearty eater than fancy eater
    • Thanks for coming back to post the update, maybe it will help out the next person!
    • Going by the intake & injectors I'd be guessing it's a DE, check the head casting number, should be 5L8 on a DET, 5L7 I think is the DE number.
