thanks. it was a very spur of the moment thing. background is the tiles on our balcony. mum brought me some juice and the camera was next to me and one thing led to another.

Were you using a tripod? looks like it could be a bit sharper and increase the appeal even more

thanks. have decided to grab a canon 50mm f1.8 tomorrow. i've been asked to take pics at a friend's 21st and hopefully the faster lens means i might get some halfway exposed shots

here are some pics from the weekend. all the cruise shots and the filter are taken with the 50mm. i dunno bout the other because i was changing between the kit lens and the 50mm through the night. the 21st went well. realise i need a good flash.

an impromptu shoot while i was at uni. didnt even wash the car. excuse the crappy quality. lost something in the uploading. however when i was reviewing the pics on the comp i noticed a bit of lens flare and a lot of softness. i dunno bout the flare but am i right in thinking that shooting with a smaller aperture (bigger number) will result in a sharper pic?

You can see the flare coz you are pointing the camera straight at that light bulb.

Also f8 is about right for those night type shots on your stock kit lens. Im assuming you are using stock lens for these shots?

Also perhaps try and get the whole car under the light. So there will be no dark spots on the car. Your car is already a dark color.

I like shot two the most keep it up!!

yeah kit lens. and i tried to position the car in the middle of 3 lights but it didnt work too well. cheers for the advice
