Rebuild with shortened bronze valve guides new stem seals, multiangle valve job (3 angle is done standard on the rb's), port and polish (noticeable work done around the bowl area) and valve deshroud cost me ~1.1k

I had it done by Chris Milton Engine developments but honestly I can't recommend them as they bum steered me a few times (valve seat pressure stuff ups etc) they then charged me again to fix up their stuff up.

Unsure if James from Nisspeed is still around. Might want to quiz Shaun.

I'll definately be talking to shaun soonish Cubes - waiting on attessa oring

madaz the cometic head gasket is Multi-Layer Steel.

MLS head gaskets are comprised of three layers of corrosive-resistent stainless steel. I'll have the slide highflow tuned for max efficiency (whatever that is, 16-18psi)

paid for the parts (bar poncams)

thanks for the Link, Ive had a chat and got a quote.

Ive been quoted around $1200 to $1500 depending on how far I want to go with the porting job, from Lewis Engines in Mt Barker Sth Aus.

parts have cost me exaclty $3000 AUS, from Sliding Performance (best dealer on SAU, thanks guys), and Erics Performance Parts (USA Ebay, when the u$a-au$ dollar rate was almost equal)

so all up its a $4500 job, plus the retune and basic service stuff.

looking for big torque thru the auto and around an easy 230kw

have bought, and have got on hand, although I might swap the 1.2 x 87mm head gasket for 1.5 x 86mm, not sure.

for stock bottom end what should I use, 86 or 87mm? who else is good for head work in Adelaide? just wondering

thats some list for 3thou, I reckon.

almost got venolia pistons and rods for $300 lol, but decided not to bid/buy at the last minute. lol. what coulda been ........ heheheh

wont do bottem end at this stage, top first. maybe pistons and rings in a few yrs time.

I had it done by Chris Milton Engine developments but honestly I can't recommend them as they bum steered me a few times (valve seat pressure stuff ups etc) they then charged me again to fix up their stuff up.

We'll have no slandering around here thank you very much :P

I can vouch for, James (not Jason :)) from Nisspeed. However, he is usually one very busy man.

For the cost of a decent set of pistons and rods these days, in all honesty, I'd be doing the lot now - while the head is off. If you don't have the extra $ then save a bit more and then do it.

If you want to make the most of the top end upgrades and have piece of mind with that additional torque, then at least do the pistons/rings etc. We all know that standard RB25DET ring-lands are like Amy Winehouse (sp?) they love the crack

just remember the rb ring lands are weak and that power level you can do the rings believe me ive just done mine at 200+rwkw but i think gazzanats helped that lol so make certain your tune is good

and its a very nice list ive got 1 too since the rings went its given me a excuse to go ahead with the 26/30 build up

Edited by R334door(s2)

too right pete dam safc and standard ecu dont mix

have a look at this run see how lean she is at low rpm :D and then hits r&r im not too fused but she was a good motor maybe i should whack another bottom end on it this. The other build up is not gonna give me much change from 30g ill tell yas all about it after. :P

pic of dyno graph

cheers for the replies

damn that dyno chart above, lol, nasty

yeah, happy with the list, cheers for the nice comments.

should have bought the venolia pistons and rings for $300 then, damn it. was thinking that pistons/rods (proper pricing, theres $1500) and a hone and bore would be three grand at least extra on top of the head work.

I figured I could do head work now, be happy with low-mid 200'kws, and in a few years time do the bottom end.

Ive got the toshi ecu remap chip, great, heaps rich LOL but timing is pretty good. safc is in bigtime negatives atm, so plenty of scope for the extra 700cc injectors to be switched on thru a rpm/wot switch for safe fueling.

Im hoping bottem end will be fine, but thanks for the tips, from your wealth of experience (whatsisname) I'll take it into consideration and see what I can do a deal on, perhaps. just I figured I didnt need to spend that extra 2-3g for bottom end rebuild, and have fun doing it in a few yrs time.

total list of car, for the past 3yrs ownership. all mods are mine.
