wat about extracors for an RB20?

anyone know where in sydney i can get them?

coby make ones for rb20 as well as posted earlier by cookm. i found a place in NZ http://www.autopia.co.nz/ that are willing to ship to oz, their price for rb25 extractors was NZ$226 plus freight (pay no gst because its an export). given the exchange rate this is pretty good!

cookm,

dude you are doing a great job of modding your car:D your extractors look mad with the chrome, are they stainless or mild steel and before the chroming what kind of finish did they have? have you looked into any thermal coating/heat wrap to prevent cracking or do they come with some kind of coating from coby? sorry about all the questions, i just want to know all the facts before i pay a nz company money for something i've never seen!

thanks

GREG:

I purchased extractors through Manawatu Mufflers in Palmerston North, they sourced extractors from Auckland somewhere - came in standard red mild steel i was told, supplier recommended chroming them in Hamilton on the way to me, don't have much information sorry, not sure if they are heat treated or not, just followed advice by suppliers ???

Government passed a boy racer law here in NZ, cars aren't allowed mufflers louder than original manufactured, hence my little project :(, it's not illegal yet to cut our CAT's out though :(

Peak Power 87.1 rwkW @ 5886 RPM

Peak Power 116.7 Hp @ 5886 RPM

Peak Torque 487.9 Nm @ 3541 RPM

Am a bit disappointed with the Power, I expected higher.

Have read other guys results, 100-114 rwkW

Any ideas why ?

that torque is massive! is that a typo and its actually meant to be 287.9 Nm? if its for real then maybe the extractors have sacrificed a lot of peak power for a lot of low down torque?

also, i remember reading a thread a while back about how dynos are different or something, maybe this one wasn't calibrated properly or maybe australian dynos are different to new zealand ones (its well known that american dynos read higher than ones over here).

thanks for the info on the extractors, i rang advan imports in sydney today (www.advan.co.nz) and they told me that the extractors are mild steel as u said, not hpc coated and i can get them for AU$350 in a painted finish or AU$430 in chrome. I think this is a bit expensive and i should be able to get a better deal by importing them from Autopia in NZ but they haven't got back to me yet on freight costs so i can't be sure...

If we have a few people here that are interested in these coby extractors from Autopia in NZ (NZ$226 = AU$196) for their RB20/RB25 maybe we could organise some kind of group buy so we can ship them over to australia for a cheaper price per unit? i'm willing to organise this if people are interested so let me know.

cheers

greg

I thought the torque was a bit high, will do a dyno with an indapendent garage to compare results, will reset the ECU, it may make a difference.
