Hi All,

It's that time of year.....with a little twist..

Around this time each year we all get up nice and early, trek out to a rural McDonalds for an early morning feed and a chat with some new and old friends, then get ready for a great day out and about with like minded people!

This is one of our annual events and it tends to be one of the most popular; probably because it's generally free which leaves us with more money to spend on the car :P . Compared to some of our other events, this is probably the most laid back, no 'social drinks' before the cruise, no drag strip, no race track, just a bunch of skylines, some stageas, random Nissans and usually one or two other types of cars cruising together enjoying one of the nicest roads NSW has to offer.

We will cruise from windsor macca's at 10:30am sharp and head up to the halfway house on Putty road (approx 1.5 hours or so into the journey) where we will have a stop of about 15 mins from when the last car parks to have a toilet/fuel/drink stop (note, this station is a shell but doesn't have 98ron fuel, or didn't last time anyway). SAU NSW Committee members will lead the way and be scattered throughout the pack to ensure people don't get lost and of course to make sure everyone is behaving themselves as this is a public road :D

After that we will head to singleton for lunch, we will spend about 1.5 - 2 hours in singleton. Note Singleton does have a Shell not far from lunch that does sells 98 ron.

After Lunch it will be up to you all what you do. What we generally decide to do is head off to sample a few of the local fermented grape juices and perhaps some old mouldy dairy products. All are more than welcome to tag along.

If you don't think you will be up for the drive back home you can also spend the night; I will look in to some accom options if people are interested. please post up if you would like to spend the night, then we can look at some of those 'social drinks'

Now for that 'Little Twist'..

SAU NSW has decided to use the Putty Road event as a Charity Cruise, to help raise some money for a local charity and give some thing back to the community and help out those who really need it!! Everyone has a reason for donating to their own charity, which is why it makes it hard for us to chose any one charity to donate to, what we have decided to do is put up to you, the members. The Executive committee have each chosen a charity they want to donate too and we would like you to vote for the charity we donate the cash to.

If we do any more charity cruises/events before the next Putty Road Cruise we will donate to the 2nd highest charity and so on. Next year we will re-do the vote and choose a new group do donate too.

Please use the voting buttons at the top of the page to vote for your charity.

    • I’m only posting this cause I thought I had seen a bad review on these somewhere before. Any feedback? Would you guys recommend that if I do buy these I send em to RC to have em checked before installing. Or any other suggestions?   https://www.ebay.com/itm/114009965865?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=JDl-15yLQ8C&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=QTzlFXB1S-S&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
    • They see me rollin' they hatin'....... Took me most of the day to make the necessary mods to the mounts to make them fit the car.  Fortunately I was able to just use the mounts that came with the rotisserie. The rear ones are really secure, the front I feel i might reinforce a bit more as it doesn't seem like enough attachment to the vehicle. I'm sure it's fine but better to be safe than (extremely...) sorry.  I drilled and tapped thread into additional M12 holes to each car mount where it attaches to the rotisserie as an extra fail-safe. Without them the side to side movement is just restricted by the allen head pinch bolts, nothing actually goes though the beam. Does now! I still need to adjust the rotisserie to get the car centred in terms of centre of gravity. If it's too high or too low relative to the rotational centre line of the car, it will be like a turtle and roll onto its back or as it currently sits, I dont think I'd be able to rotate it as it sits as it needs to lift the whole car up as it rotates. Ain't happening... I'm going to be nervous as hell the first time I go to spin it on its side...
    • Oh yes done this when the window started flopping around.  Turns out the guides that run along the rail chanel had crumbed way. Took off the door card and pulled out the window mech, then the window, which you have to pull out through the top. As said unbolt the guide rail and don't spend 30 minutes getting frustrated trying to find a way to slide it out upwards cause that don't frigging work. Drop it down and out through the door hole. All I did to repair it was slice some 10mm clear plastic tube, vertically, then screw it to the guide rail both sides. This tubing rolls inward on both sides and leaves a gap wide enough to hold the window. To finish all I did was lube the plastic tube with olive oil and Bob's your uncle . . . well if he has the operation he can be your Aunt ! !  10 bucks in plastic tube and another 5 minute job done again . . . . YEH BULLSH#T ! My love for Skylines knows no bounds !
    • So was there a solution to this problem? I’m having this issue now.
