In the process of selecting new turbos to suit 500~hp for street/track/drag use. I've looked around and nearly have bought some new HKS 2530's but the 2860's seem to be pulling some reasonable numbers. Anyone personally here making 500~hp with them care to respond about them performance ect?

Well they are basically the same turbo (2530/-5)

They will make 370rwkw no problem, same as a 2530.

Lots of results in the RB26 thread now with them, and anything that is "2530" applies as the same

So not sure whats left when there is plenty known already

They are not the same turbos as 25/30 as response and top end power will vary considerably but they are also nowhere near the price of 25/30's either. I have used them on a mates race car that i built rego 26R32 it came 8th outright in superlap and they are a good turbo especially for the price the car makes 497hp at all 4 wheels on 20psi boost with a set of tomei pon cams so they will definatly do the job as i would consider 20 psi not to be a lot of boost myself. I will be winding a bit more boost into them soon around another 5-8 psi with a retune and some bigger cams am expecting around the 550-570 hp@all 4. Graet turbos for the price in my opinion.

i watched as a GTR got tuned with these turbos(-5's), and it was really flattening off/boost dropping off at ~430rwkw on race fuel @24psi, so you could make your target power but you'll be really pushing the turbos hard

2860-5 are very similar to the 2530s

they make a touch less power compared to the 2530 and when pushed hard will make close to 500awhp

most people running these would be in the mid 400 range as pushin a turbo hard will shorten its life span

why not go a high mount big single external gate :P

So the 2530 loose bottom end but make up for it with outright power. While the 2860's come on earlier and drop off?. That seems to be the trend when researching.

Well by your own post, the -5's are doing exactly what 2530's do which is 370rwkw @ 20psi.

Sounds exactly the same ballpark to me.

And then they do 440rwkw on big built motors when pushed (see RPMGTR - which was on PULP and others)

So the results are sounding nothing different to a 2530, and from the info posted in the past about wheels specs are so on, there is little difference there either

Cheers.
