john: you install the U-shackle either through your factory latch hook , or by drilling a 6mm hole next to the factory latch hook (recommended)

you also drill a 6mm hole next to the bonnet latch and the spring hook connects to this... on my skyline i was able to just attach it to a hole already near the latch.. but on my silvia I had to drill one.

anyways, it stops you bonnet flying up if the factory latch fails, and it is mandatary at certain CAMS sanctioned events to have a secondary restraint. and for those that dont want to cut up their bonnet to put pins in.. its a cheap alternative.

the bonnet can still open a small amount, which is useful if theres a fire, and to open your bonnet the whole way you just unclip the spring hook.

I bought one of these to go drifting with earlier in the month (or later last month... either or lol)

It's fantastic. On my R33 its really, really easy to install (I did it the super, lazy, don't drill any holes way) and the only issue I had with it is that because I didn't drill any holes to install it, I need to be careful because the D shackle can foul on the latching mechanism, and it's not enough of an issue to make me want to drill the holes :D

I was going to use the battery triangles, but I left them at home

IMO, great value for money (even more than Evil_Weevil's golf buggy strap :))
