Need Advice From All U Drifters

sup peeps um just wanting to know what would be the best car for me to buy for a decent track car (one that can drift with ease) for about $5500 to $6000 not too worryed about age and what not just want something that will rip it up and not break ??? thanks for any feed back

Nissan Silvia S13 K's.

Cheap to setup but will still cost you in the long run, so tyres, suspension, diff (2way) and all the usual mods.

As you know with drifting, you tear up tyres, diffs, clutches, gearboxes, body panels and the engine geta thrashing too.

Just gota get a car that will be cheaper to maintain but it will still cost you.

i would search around. it sounds to me like you want a turn-key vehicle and dont want to build anything. bought not built. so i would find something like a cefiro or laurel that someones already built for drift, buy it, wreck it, sell it whatever.

I agree with Travis with the bit that you sound like you want a turn key drift car and this is probably the cheaper way to go. I think cars like Cefiros and Laurels are not the right choice for a budget drifter though because they sell for around $12,000-$14,000 stock (due to cult status). Better off picking up a perfect R32 for around $8,000-$10,000 with better suspension, 5 stud and better brakes etc

S13's are probably the cheapest way to go when buying a ready built drift car plus parts for them are extremely easy to get. But its unlikely you'll find one "ready to rip" in your price range.

Maybe look into a R31's or Corrolas. Both can be had ready to drift for under $6,000

Aussie R31 with the suspension set up would be the go IMO, i saw one going for around that price on the R31 club forums not long ago, had all the suspension set up for drift, the other thing is that parts are cheap in general (especially engine bits for the RB30E)

90% of ae86's are stupidly expensive now thanks to a certain anime.

Goddamn fecking kids, gets me so angry everytime i look them up on carsales. goddamn want like 20k for a 86.

its freakin 20 years old and i dont care that its "special" coz its been on a anime.

even s13's are getting rarer to find in that price range. everyone wants a cheap drift pig...

its kinda wierd i seem to see R33's near that price range now. maybe around 9k...

Well at the end of the day a 86 is a 20 year old corolla. Its become a cult car for the wrong reasons.

I see where you are coming from. I like the car too.

An AE86 can beat a R32 GTR, 2 x RX7, EVO III, Honda Civic, Silvia S13 and a 180SX... In an anima LOL! So thats pretty much what gave it the 'name'.

So yeah thats why ppl can think they can sell it at a high price and the whole cult status.

But anyway, I would not pay 20K+ for an AE86.

I think you'll find the AE86 also came to cult status for a lot more than just being on Initial D. It was the last of the rear wheel drive Corrolas and competed in a lot of races around the world including Bathurst (well before Initial D). It also has a huge history in drifting thanks to Tsydsnfjkasnerjkl (drift bible guy) as well as being used by many of the youths drifting up on the touges back in the day most likely and ironically because of how cheap they were.

I know what you mean - who wants to pay 13 grand for a stock rusty 1984 corrola? NOT ME! but all it takes is for one person to pay that price and thats what they are worth.

Hi guys (and gals)

I've been a member for a while on SUA. More of a lurker than a poster but I'm starting to look into buying a drift car myself.

As the OP, I don't want to spend more than $8000 for a turn key drift car.

What other things should I take into consideration when buying a drift car?

I have NO track drift experience and I'm not ashamed to admit that I more than likely SUCK at it. Hopefully in the future this can change.

I don't want an expencive to vehicle and I definitely don't need anything flash.

What would be the "sweet spot" in RWKW for drifting?
