hey guys, ive just got my rb25 block and rb26 crank back from the machine shop and i was planning on getting it Cryotemp frozen. ive heard it works really well. milanco had that et pulsar that ran 11s and all it had was all the internals cryo'd. also my work mate had his 2lt turbo pinto block done and after 2 meets it had to be pulled down cause of a knock to find a cracked bore. could have just been a dodgey cast from factory though... has any1 else had good/bad experiences with cryotempering? thanks, adam.

nismoid, im hoping to get around 500rwhp out of it. ive got forged rods/pistons, type a cams and springs, lots of headwork and alot of money lol the list goes on of all the usual mods. that why i thought while it was out i might aswell do what i can do strengthen up the block and crank while im at it. its not 400rwkw but i dont like things near there limits, id rather overdo something the 1st time rather then not and be paying for it big time later on..

a stock setup crank will go well over 450rwkw +

Cryo is a big thing here in the states. Guys have their blocks done, cranks, rods, pistons even bearings. I've never heard anything but people talking good about it. So if you have the extra coin, why not just get it done to be safe right?

used it on gear box internals with mixed results, it is hard to quantify the results and really depends on what your getting cryo treated. I find the jap stuff seems to be better material than stock over say the old yank V8 iron that is really driving the cryo bus.

Another good point ... If you have the money, why not just buy the best of the best parts. Then you should not have to cryo treat!

thanks for the info! got a quote today, $180 for the crank and block. going to drop it off on friday and will be ready by monday.

i would love to have the money to buy the best of the best lol by the time this engine is finished it will be owing me 18k, thats with me doin all the work, so i dont really wanna blow out anymore than i already have. an extra $180 is very affordable compared to say a new block and crank.
