ive got a series two stagea rs4s (the factory 5 speed manual) and it has a leak coming from up around the shifter. i searched through heaps of threads but couldnt find anyone else that has the same problem. but im hoping someone may have some answers for me.

1.is there alot of areas around the shifter that could leak??

2.does it have a bunch of seals or is it just a simple gasket??

3.is there seals or anything that wears out and requires replacement??

4.is it even possible to get replacement parts, or will i need to start scouring wrecking yards??

any help would be great.

cheers Ray

most likely just the gasket that is between the shifter 6bolt plate that bolts down onto the rear housing of the gearbox, very easy fix and should only take you 20 mins or so, if its leaking above that it could be the rubber boot that covers the hole between the shifter 6bolt plate and the gear shift lever itself, which is also a very easy fix

Yeah itll be the boot. Obviously the shifter moves around in the boot all the time so its gets old and it cracks over time...you can get them from nissan for like 16 bucks. Just quote your VIN and thats it.

i pulled the boot off on sunday and checked it out. i couldnt find any cracks in it, but the whole thing was covered in oil. is it supposed to just be held on with 2 zip ties?? cos mine was, much to my surprise. anyway i wiped it off and put it on with fresh zip ties.

for some reason i get a feeling it should be held on with more than just a zip tie top and bottom. does everyone else's have the same arrangement??
