pardon my ignorance guys....:)

just wondering...what is MDF?

read around and alot of ppl are replacing brackets and etc with MDF...

what is it?

how do you make it at home and essentially what material is it/

wha tools do u need to make MDF?

i wanna make a rear shelf...where to buy the materials?

Its just "craft wood" like saw dust Pressed with glue added.

Most of the cheap desks and cabinets around are made out of it so are sub box's. Similar to chipboard except smaller particles.

Just go to bunnings an have a look, its pretty heavy though for a parcel shelf. And you wouldnt make the stuff either.

You can get MDF as thins as 2.2mm.

And as far as parcel shelves go, it's the most suitable material, because it's easy to work with, cheap, and not at all heavy, but it is solid. :)
