Hi guys, comparing maximum power at one single rpm point is a waste of time. Tell me the average power over the useable rpm range, now that's something meaningful.

Let's compare this R33 GTST..................

At 7,000 rpm it has 310 rwkw

At 6,000 rpm it has 250 rwkw

At 5,000 rpm it has 195 rwkw

At 4,000 rpm it has 93 rwkw

That's an average of 212 rwkw.

With this R32 GTST..........

At 7,000 rpm it has 280 rwkw

At 6,000 rpm it has 250 rwkw

At 5,000 rpm it has 200 rwkw

At 4,000 rpm it has 160 rwkw

That's an average of 223 rwkw.

Ignore the weight difference for a moment, which car is going to be faster? The R32 gives away 30 rwkw (11%) max power but I know it's faster (times prove it) and that's because it's average power is higher.

Sydneykid, I totally agree with what your saying, maximum power is irrelevant, hence the reason I get mine tuned for a nice fat power curve and not top-end power. We reduced the top-end power in mine and gained substantially in the mid-range, and that's the type of car I'd much rather drive:D

the above doesn't make sense to me in that u had to run more boost b/c of your fuel problem.

i hope your tuner didn't tune your engine by retarding the ignition timing and winding the boost up as to get power without detonation.

If so, you are definitely not allowing the engine to run efficiently and make the power it should on lower boost, so i'd look at getting the engine tuned again with more timing and lower boost as to suit the amount of fuel that your injectors/pump will flow.

For those who are curious, I just found out that the injectors in my car, which i was told and believed were to be 550cc, are actually standard. Goes to show how much you can trust a reputable builder hey!!!

650cc injectors will be installed tomorrow. Will keep you posted with dyno figures.

u cant be serious, 6 x 370cc injectors and 280rwkw dont add up.

u r kidding yourself if you think they are the stock ones.

Just a question why are you guys making well over 300rwhp and only doing mid 13 sec 1/4's? Shouldn't you be getting mid 12's with that much power.

104 is a very low mph for 368 rwhp.... whats going on here? Dynos can lie, but the track doesn't.

Driver, traction....etc....see some got got mid 12 and high 11..see the sticked post....

Hi RNS11Z, if you car is making a genuine 290 rwkw on standard injectors then you better call the the Pope 'cause it's a miracle. Either that or the fuel pressure is way over the top.

Is it possible that you have a set of hi flowed standard injectors? They look the same and most people don't remove the part numbers when they hi flow them, which is very dangerous. I have seen the result when someone with a set of hi flowed injectors replaces one with one of the same part number (not hi flowed). Very large melted lump that sorta looks like a piston.

Hi sidewaymambo, weight is important too and tyres are the most important, not to mention driver skill. Comparing 1/4 times to judge a cars horsepower is almost as useless as comparing different dynos.

Well i was very shocked to find out it was standard. We did back to back testing with another set of standard GTST injectors from a vehicle which was producing 340rwhp and they flowed exactly the same. This guy is also on the forums (the person who i was going to sell my injectors too), he too can vouch for em.

I will post a copy of dyno figures once i get the new injectors in the car and tuned which will be very shortly.

1/4 mile times, well i will be out racing at jamboree so, we'll see how good i can drive and how good my tyres are.

    • It's kind of interesting - They definitely do builds that split the difference between what they like and what will generate views and engagement. The NC Platform always surprises everyone in a good way, in an uncomfortably good way some may say. They could throw a LS in there and arguably have the best (and best performing) car of the entire stable. But that isn't necessarily what draws views, because people viewing don't want to accept the vegetables of a LS NC MX5 being a superior vehicle in every way (including fun) than a RB26 240Z. This is also why there's not a lot of content about the GR Yaris (on the web in general). They're too good, yet 'only a Yaris' The community doesn't want certain cars to be as good as they are - to beat their hero cars, and I believe the NC MX5 is absolutely one of those cars.
    • Yeah - My key still does the chime thing. I followed the procedure but it didn't activate on the (identical) third set of keyfob that I had. I vaguely remember the alarm saying you can only pair two keys with it. Now that I've dug it up, it appears that you very much can pair keyfobs to the alarm system. (which are the fobs I use to unlock the car). I have successfully diverted the thread and can probably not use the OEM keyfob ever again unless I use the aftermarket alarm and attempt to pair the OEM keyfob to it. Which might just work, or not :D. I definitely used the nissan method and not the aftermarket alarm method.
    • What makes it worse is that Nissan made keys in the same style, for example R34 and Stagea, but they work at different frequencies or something like that. So they look the same but the remotes are not interchangeable. I learned that from some guy selling aftermarket blank keys.
    • Does your door chime work when you have the key in the lock and open the door? I've had that disabled because it's f**king annoying and it is one thing that messes with the pairing. Because now the car doesn't detect key in ignition anymore and the slide-key-in-and-out sequence does not trigger the pairing mode anymore. The service manual has a section on the various bits involved in doing the syncing. I presume it'll be similar between Stagea and R34.
    • Agree, but meh, I think is is based more on LOLS than actually apples to apples, like, who would have thunk a turbo 4 cylinder would not beat a NA 4 cylinder  I think with just basic N/A mods, like a exhaust and tune, it would be equal to the Mini in its current form, maybe I know my current 2.5 would "chop the mini" as the midrange now has a night and day difference in power delivery compared to the tuned 2.0, by around 20kwatw and 30nm from around 2k rpm "ish"....... I'm kinda hoping that they do a N/A build, either with the MZR 2.0 or with whatever they decide to use If I recall correctly they did talk about K swapping one a while ago
