Has anyone in Sydney had his rocker covers painted?

Got some pics? Would you recommend them to me, and if so, what are their contact details?

North Shore or Eastern Suburbs Sydney preferred.

Thanks in advance.

I've been wanting to do this as well while my motor is out.

Do you want it gloss maroon red like the R34 GT-R? That's something I would like.

Just the rocker covers, maybe the cam gear covers too. That plus a fancy oil cap would make it nice.

VHT engine enamel and some polish might do it.

That's right, I want mine done in R34 RB26 Red, so a can of spray paint will NOT suffice.

I want it done properly by a professional panel beater/painter who has done it before and knows what their doing :)

Hmm...

This will take a while and be reasonable expensive. So what I say?

It's more like how long your car's gonna be off the road.

I would think this requires a prime, several coats, clear coat and maybe some bakes in an oven to 150 degrees (yeah I've been looking into this at work).

I'll ask a painter about this.

Expensive? I can't see it being more than a couple of hundred bucks, but yeah, more expensive than VHT :)

As for time off the road, if they don't stuff around it shouldn't take more than 2 days, 3 at the most...

It is not expensive..

Andrew, a friend at work has recently had some parts of his VW sand blasted and powdercoated. Whilst the job he had wont be the same as what you need, it was not costly. The powdercoating and sandblasting of each wheel was 40 dollars.

The place he went to is out west, (not convinent for NS folk) but I shall get the name none the less.

I'm on this one right now...

The deal is maroon red like the r34.

Painted rockers x 2, cam cover + plastic centre piece with the Nissan legends masked off.

Thanks for the help guys...

It has to be EXACTLY R34 RB26 red... I am trying to get the paint code (hopefully tomorrow), either that, or I can borrow someone's R34 spark plug cover to get the panel beaters to paint match...

It can't be just *any* maroon red :)

Actually, I remembered that Peter (ADVAN built Maroon R33 - "DA MAN") had painted RB26 rocker covers, and I found this photo of his engine that I took...

I'll give Peter Hopkins @ ADVAN a call and see if he knows where it was done... Looks like a top notch job!

I like mine airbrushed with the purple teletubbie please!

Andrew, Nungen has a second hand rocker cover for R32/33 that's like the red on the R34. Only it's got the R32/33 badge not the R34.

I am a friend of Peter (DA MAN), and he referred me to Prestige Motor Sport in Rydalmere, where he had it done.

I have some pictures of his engine bay, but don't feel comfortable posting without his permission (the above pic does it no justice)

Ask for Axle, he is a really cool guy.

Mate of mine has a compressor, and a spray gun, and does his own work.

He's done his own rocker cover, and fuel rail on his GTiR and the rocker cover of a CA18DET...this is just what i remember recently. His pulsar is Top Secret Gold, so's the cover. The CA was done in white with blue pearl, but he neglected to clean the gun properly...so he got some gold in there also. Look gorgeous...like the Pearl white the soarers come in...really nice.

    • looking forward to your t56 swap man its a game changer if it works!
    • So, when are you trying the new GR86 or BRZ?
    • Uncle Duncan Yeap, FI Interchiller  Works well, normal IAT's cruising with the WTA only went from 50°c+ to 25-30°c with the interchiller  Before, when on it hard, the IAT would see 80-90°c, now, the highest has been was around 38°c IIRC IAT is measured under the blower hat I recommend it for the street or strip where your only on it hard for 10 or so seconds, but it wouldn't be efficient for sustained track use as it would heat soak from the AC turning off or whatever it does during WOT to protect the compressor It really needs the AC running for it to not heat soak and keep the WTA coolant chilled My WTA coolant temps when just cruising is around 2°c
    • Hey Mark...sorry to interrupt your career change to hair dressing... but...did you ever fit the interchiller to the commodore, and if so how was it? And, who made it?
    • I've been pondering this, I really enjoy the convertible thing, for me, it's like riding a motorbike, without all the issue of riding a motorbike, mainly, my old sore arthritic joints getting beaten up, and, being able to do it in shorts and a T-shirt and not needing a helmet and all the other gear required, especially like wearing jackets and pants in the summer, or needing 6 layers of cloths in the winter, or not having wet weather gear handy when your 100km away from home on the bike when it decides to start raining As for the hard top and its Coupe look, whilst I do lose all that open top feeling that I really enjoy, from my experience with the NB with a detachable hard top, the cabin is a much nicer place to be, the difference in noise for one, a hard top quietens down the interior, alot, with the soft top up or down it's pretty noisy, which, after 5 or so hours, can get tiring But, as you stated, the detachable hard top totally changes the look of the car, in a really good way, and for me, the look of a detachable hard top is so much better than the PRHT which looks more like a after thought with its weird bulbous rear roof line For me, the minimal effort of putting in on, or storing it after removing it, is well worth the time and effort for the look alone And yes, I'm sure the next owner will be grateful for it as well.......
