Hotwire
...Remember, while "newer" is usually better in regards to technology, there can never be a replacement for the old school style, & it will be a long time before an R35 can go flying past a properly sorted R34 or R33. Hello new world of GTRs, & after years of drooling over photos on the net we can actually see & play with them. ... I find that quote interesting. At Targa West an R35 GTR won over many well setup cars such as Evo's, 911's etc. So surely it wont be too long before an R35 wins other Targa events ahead of the older GTRs? (none entered in Targa West unfortunately) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/235927-willall-racing-buys-australias-first-official-compliedstreet-registered-r35gtr/page/7/#findComment-4143034 Share on other sites
whatsisname
Yeah I was down the workshop today and can vouch for the potent sound of the removed resonator from the exhaust - it now sounds much angrier Took a few more pics too. Was good to catch up with Matt/Whatsisname down there too (for the youngsters: Matt is one of your old school mods who is rarely about these days). Likewise, mate. It had been a while since I'd ventured down to Willall. A lot has changed! It was good to catch up with Martin too - it's been about 2yrs. Although I had already seen the R35 in the flesh earlier in the year at the Adelaide Motorshow (where I caught up with Munro) getting a chance for a closer look at the car has confirmed in my mind that the new GTR more than lives up to the hype and expectation. It was only after Martin pointed out how large the R35 looks when compared to the other 'supercars' present (997 911 Turbo and Gallardo) that I realised just how big it is - mainly due to width. The smaller features of the R35 that Martin talked about were really interesting and I am keen to see just how much can be extracted from the car with the standard ECU running the show. It certainly didn't take the guys long to begin dabbling with upgrades - nice work! The exhaust upgrade has already transformed the aural presence of the R35. At the end of the day, I struggle to think of another production vehicle that can deliver so much for such a relatively modest price tag. I'm hoping the humble offering of a test run in a twincharged Golf GT DSG and TRD Aurion will equal a brief on-road R35 experience Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/235927-willall-racing-buys-australias-first-official-compliedstreet-registered-r35gtr/page/7/#findComment-4143181 Share on other sites

whatsisname
Considering the GTR has been released on a global scale, for the first time in it's history, I'm tipping that we'll be seeing low 10/high 9 second drag versions sooner than people think. Not only are the Japanese workshops already starting to develop upgrades, but this time the massive US market are gearing up to put runs on the board. Sure are, a few of the heavilly cashed up 1000+hp 8 sec supra owners have bought them and they went straight into the shop for mods. Can't remember but i thought they made over 500-550rwhp on dynojet dynoes already(could be wrong and can't be bothered searching) cheers darren Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/235927-willall-racing-buys-australias-first-official-compliedstreet-registered-r35gtr/page/7/#findComment-4145300 Share on other sites
