hi all

as ive found out everyone here pretty much knows everythin bout these cars lol but ive had mine for just about 2 weeks and there seems to be sum little problems that are really getting to me and im finding new one nearly everyday

i have a feeling most of these are wiring problem but maybe sum of you have come across this stuff

ok first one is i have an apexi turbo timer.. and when i turn my car off and the turbo timer starts counting down at about 1.34 the car starts beeping and hazard lights flash assif an alarm has been enabled one thing is i have no friggen alarm.

2nd one is just today when i was going into the car wash the car just started going mental as in when i swithed it off and turbo timer came on the hazards and every light on the dash started flashing and the car was shaking heard of this but onc ei turned the turbo timer off the car didnt do it.

3rd one is when i turn right SOMETIMES my horn goes off for no reason i dont press it but it just beeps for a quick second but only when i am turning sharp right.

4th one is just noticed this tonight, since the turbo timer has been off from this afternoon, my steering wheel has started clunking like if you are for example driving through a maccas drive thru with a few bends and you have to turn the steering wheel pretty sharply it clicks assif its locking but unlocking right away really weird.

and lucky last this is prob an general problem my kenwood dvd player when the music is too loud it just turns itself off and then turns itself back on.

i keep thinkin i need an exorcist clear the problem of this possed mofo... i will be ringing the ex owner tomorrow because byt the look of it there has been some shit wiring done

thank you very much in advance guy i would really appreciate some help/advice on what to do...im guessing getting rid of the turbo timer

thanks :)

Jay

I'd definitely get rid of the timer Jay, it sounds like more trouble than its worth.

An auto electrician having a look at the electrics wouldnt hurt either, just to get a better opinion

yeah get rid of the tt, they are a nusence and there crap anyway.... all they do is expose the wires you need to hot wire the car, makes it too easy for the car thieves....

i got mine buit into my alarm system, dont have to worry about exposed wires, insurance voiding pay out if its stolen, wont get defected for it.....

A couple of things.

Stay away from sydney - Get an alarm if your already here. Get one with a turbo timer built in! Alot of skylines go missing, please listen to this advice.

The horn is due to it grounding when you turn, you need to take the wheel off to fix it. The clicking may be related.

Get a pro to do the horn if you have an airbag attached.

Sound system has protection mode, this means it has in built amp and turns off to avoid frying speakers (if amp cant power them they melt) or secondly to avoid frying itself. This is often related to air flow so tie up the cables behind it, obviously it may be over heating

Cheers

Nathaniel

1st thing i aint from sydney lol so i guess thats good, umm who is recommended to take the steering wheel off as it has an airbag?

just general mechanics or straight to nissan??

cheers mate i appreciate it...

BTW

the installers at my work said my batt was to small for my amp to run the sub so its just cutting out not sure but they work with the damn things

    • What can't be done with a little bit of decking board or similar timber bolted to a hub flange via 2 wheel nuts is not worth talking about.
    • I noticed something. On the tps sensor and the sensor behind the adjustment screw is adjusted towards the far left. Are these screws supposed to be centered? (this sensor was in the same position before the tune as well)  Also attached a photo of where my car usually idles at when warm (sometimes a tiny bit above that). I think I might have screwed up the calculation and it might have better than I thought lol at 750rpm still not 650rpm though.
    • So for both general interest of engine health, and to rule out any coolant/oil issues, I organised an oil analysis done on the 125,000klm oil Results below, all good, just a bit of fuel dilution which I'm not too worried about
    • This is actually a really good way of measuring what wheels fit. If only there was a similar measurement between hub face and suspension :p That said, it's probably pretty simple to actually measure it all with the wheel off the car for the rear. The front is a bit more complex but..
    • Being the top Google search result for R34 wheel-related inquiries, lemme throw down my experience. I calculated that 100mm from hub face to wheel face is about the perfect fitment for my ENR34 sedan.  I've been running 18x8.5s, ET35, with a 1" spacer. So, 8.5in to mm = 216mm. 216/2 = 108mm. 108-35 = 73mm. 73+ 25 (1" to mm) = 98mm.  If you wanna get close to this on dif widths, here are the offsets you'll want: 9" - ET around 15mm 9.5" - ET around 20mm 10" - you're crazy, but ET around 30mm All these should fit perfectly on a non-widebody, non-GTR Skyline. Note that it's probably the absolute max, and you're probably better off running a couple degrees of camber in this config, but it looks great, super flush.
