Hey mate

My friend bought ISC coilovers for his 4dr 32 and is very happy with results.

He has spent a lot of money on ISC branded products and never has issues.

ATM i have king springs and will be definitely looking to get ISC coilovers in the future.

$1500 for the set isnt to much of a bite out the wallet for good results.

http://www.isc-coilovers.com/

here is the site go check it out.

Ryan is based in Adelaide

Non N1- "This coilover is currently only available for S13/S14/S15, Mazda FC and WRX. It is basically the same spec as our N1 coilover except this model comes without pillowball/camper tops on the front coilovers. Instead the cambere top is replaced with a non adjustable strut top. Camber on the front can still be adjusted via an enlongated hole in the bottom bracket."

Quick question... how do u know when your coil overs have shat themselves???

cuz mine are bumpy as anything... kinda giving me the shits now

came with the car from japan... they are blue but no idea wot brand they are

i know they are adjustables if that helps..

ISC N1 coilovers = $1499. These are 32 step damper adjustable and unlike alot of the "jap" ones ISC are base height adjustable. The difference between the ISC N1 and the basics is the front pillowballs, the N1's have them and the basics do not. Pillowballs are there for better steering response allowing the top of the strut to move around when cornering etc. ISC coilovers are SA based and we pride ourselves on our customer service!

If anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to throw me a pm,Ryan

The most common blue coilover to come out of japan would be Cusco. Have you checked for leaks etc? Could also be worn pillowballs at the top of the strut, siezed shock etc.

I'm pretty sure my springs are 5kg/4kg...gonna see If I can dig up my original receipts...

that'll be good if you can find out.

My Bilsteins are 400lb (7kg) at the front & 450lb (8kg) at the rear.

I wouldn't mind going a bit softer on the rears though, maybe 5 or 6kg.

I was just talking to Matt (SK's son) who said that is way too stiff Luke. They recommend about 5 or 6 on the front and 4 or 5 on the rear with heavy sway bars to compensate........unless your vehicle is mainly used for track.

Spoke to Polyair Suspension in Sydney today, who are very knowledgeable about damping rates, and they said that even though Jap stuff have either 16 or 32 steps of adjustment, the difference between the softest setting and the hardest is not as great as a European shocker with only 9 settings..........go figure?!

i can personally vouch for Ryans customer service

yeah Luke we need GTR front sway bars you may also need GTR rear but for me its GTSt in the rear

it was my understanding the ISC only do the N1 here no point doing the cheapies

have tein hr in mine with 35mm cusco sway bars. depending on the rd they can be harsh but generally they are good. no body roll but yet the way they are set there is still plenty of movement for general driving.

    • Absolutely this. Yes, except not vacuum hose. Something oil/fuel safe is a better idea.
    • Like a Stagea, but not as cool! Hope you have enough garage space for this, or is something going to leave to make way for it?
    • The new project has arrived. I have wanted one of these for such a long time, well before that meathead Clarkson drove one in Africa. I really wanted an E34 but I have some medical issues that mean I *really* can't bump my head and the lack of airbags in the E34 made it just too big of a risk.  I don't know why I've always liked these older touring BMW's to be honest, but man I love this car. She's been pretty well maintained for her 243k's with what appears to be only a single oil leak at the oil filter housing gasket. It has a bunch of updates including later model bumper and headlights, 7 series billion-way adjustable seats and it came with a few spares and another set of wheels with legal tyres. I got a unregistered car permit from the RTA and drove it back from Canberra on Saturday.                   First cab off the rank is cleaning it up for blue slip. I dont know how picky they'll be but I figured I'd clean the headlights, fix the oil filter housing gasket, replace the speed sensors (throwing errors) and swap the OE wheels (the M Sport wheels have a big chunk out of one of the tyres.) I also need to replace all 6 gas struts - 2 for bonnet, 2 for hatch and 2 for hatch glass. The car tries to eat me whenever i open any of these. My plan for this car; Ultimately, this is a budget car. I can't afford to throw lots at it and its because I have another car that I got this, if something breaks its no big deal. I will just maintain and repair it really. But eventually I want to do a manual conversion. It actually looks pretty straight forward for E39's and the trickiest part will be sourcing the parts.  I do need to replace some suspension arms or bushes because wow, she's a floaty old girl. She's also fantastically slow. Like really, really slow. When pulling back out on to the freeway on Sat after a quick pull over I needed to wait until no cars were visible before going.  Oh, and the guy I bought it from had a gorgeous R31 GTS-X in the garage.
    • Do you have a picture? I assume it is a breather for gearbox oil as it expands, it should have a vacuum line run nice and high in the engine bay (R32 GTR has it on a top bellhousing bolt)
    • Hi all, I am putting an r33 gtst gearbox into a VL and have noticed what looks like a vacuum barb on the box (on top in the middle). Suspecting that it's a vacuum line but I'd like to double check, if someone could confirm the function of that would be great. Cheers in advance.
