Were they run on the same dyno??

Yes, exact same dyno. Dyno Dynamics in Shootout mode.

and the 468rwkw one has run 132mph.

Can you post sheets please? Will help a lot of people decide if the HKS turbo is worth the 2k more...

dirt can you post up bp98 tune as well because i want to see comparison of hks t04z with garrett t04z on same fuel

mine made 428rwkw on 24psi (garrett) and another has made 468rwkw on 25psi (garrett). both were standard stroke 2.6l's

is this a 2.6l?

Yes still 2.6 & it made 422rwkw on 22psi & was on synergy8000.

my hks t04z has gone 585rwhp (440rwkw from my calculation) on 18psi on 98 pump fuel on a very very low reading dyno, another brand new dyno dynamics one i went on recently read 40hp more (520hp to 560hp) on lower boost tune, so i reckon it would of been a bit over 600rwhp on any other dyno.

brad!!!

clearly you should know you had about 150rwhp of timing in that tune to make that power

actually it was a different dyno i think, cause my car was tuned on the new 4wd dyno (in 2wd) and chookos was on the old 2wd one

chookos made 454rwkw or 608rwhp with similar tune to mine, but made more with cam timing and further tuning. my cams never got moved from zero so may have been a little more in it!

same tuner, same workshop, same fuel and very similar engines etc etc

ok, could my standard valve springs and 260 poncams be limiting my power on 24 psi with a t04z to 376awkw (.84 split a/r ex housing)..???

Just a little bit, Dave. :bunny:

PS, I'm still waiting!

interesting for me, that youve only run 132mph with 460rwkw. Ive seen an r32 gtr with 360rwkw go 134mph @ 10.8

lol Simon, he has never done a power tune on my car only a run in tune on the first motor years ago ;) everyone knows he wont touch an autronic ecu hence why i never used him in the end.

Simon's time (10.91 @ 132 with 460rwkw) was with a stock gearbox and $90 shitty tyres.

At 3256lbs (std 32 GTR weight) and 485hp (360rwkw) you shouldn't be running 134mph, more like 124mph.

Can I ask what turbo was used?

Let me guess, it's a 700+hp rated turbo, running in its peak efficiency, and "only" making 485hp at the treads. I'd suspect a very low reading dyno....

Besides the point, all I want to see is a compo between a HKS T04Z and Garrett version, someone post dyno's!!

something im struggling to believe unless it was a super low weighted car with a dog-box on slicks and with that ET i doubt it.

134MPH = at the very least 400AWKW in a R32 GTR

im pretty sure he ran around 134mph on another pass...

he was also running standard box so change from 2nd to 3rd was slower than leasurely which would have dropped the mph a fair bit i would imagine.

GRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHSSSSSSSSSSSS

r32 gtr, os giken gear set, hks t51r. Not sure if it was lightended, il have to ask him next time i see him.

another r32 gtr with n1's went hi 11s @ 125mph, he had just over 300rwkw. Wasnt a fancy set up either.

My boat did 139.67mph with 456 rwkw although only 10.70 with 1.57 best 60 foot. It had 540 pound springs at the time in rear, yes way too hard and wouldn't weight transfer, and front diff not there.

PS Good power Dave and good result. PPG helical dog box would have less power drain I guess over stock synchro box??

LOL

HKS T51R... SPL or KAI? Either way its a ~900hp rated turbo, and you reckon it only makes 450rwhp.

Either it's being transfered through a rubber driveline or it's running 14psi.

As I said, thats one hell of a low reading dyno. It's physically not possible for a car that weighs as much as a GT-R to do ~135mph with 450rwhp.

No they would be about the same...the gears are the same basic design albeit a more agressive tooth profile and far superior parent material on the PPG. The way each gear is selected whether it be dog engagement or synchromesh has little bearing on the losses after the gear is selected.

    • Cleaner signal so timing is more accurate at all rpm also found it to start more on first rotation but could also be I've nailed prime and crank fuel. For under $400 and 30mins of your time, its a good solution especially once the optical sensor does start to play up you won't notice it until in higher rpm and it heat soaks.
    • On a 400hp RB, what benefits other than "it's not 30+ years old" are you seeing from the NZ Wiring Kit trigger setup? If it were me going to change triggering, my belief would be to go for a crank trigger to remove the issues caused by what people claim is belt stretch etc, but that's from my understanding a much larger issue for super high power, rather than those in the 400hp and below club.
    • The NZ wiring kit is a 1/3 the price and will be perfectly fine for your application, I've ran one for 6+ years and many others have. Comes as a full plug into factory connector and the settings for a Link. https://www.nzwiring.com/index.php/product/trigger-kit/ Always comes back to the tuners knowledge and experience with a tuning platform. It takes years to become proficient and learning all aspects and capabilities. I've been using Links for 16 years now (rb and sr paltforms) and always learning something new with adding tables, diagnostics and data logging. Stay 98 for the usability and keep it simple so you can enjoy the car more. With experience I'll give you a current example of the industry I am in. They use Motec m190 and only use VE tuning when they have a torque mapping available and would solve the "PARITY" issues that plagues the category all because the muppet doing the tuning doesn't understand the platform or want to learn it and the product seller have no idea on its full capabilities ( I had a good laugh as when firing up an older car that just got completed and they didn't understand the injector scaling or how to change it for different fuel being used)
    • I'm sure there are specific hygrometers for it. But if you can just throw a high enough ranged temp sensor (theromcouple that came with your DMM, for example) into a pot of it on the BBQ, you can see when it boils.
    • I have multiple bottles in a shed that gets hot, and I'm in SEQ, so it's humid. Maybe we test their theory... Anyone have a system to accurately measure moisture content in oil?
