Hiya,

I'm due for new rears, now I've used T1R's on my old stock rims and can vouch that the grip was awesome for both wet and dry. I'm considering using RE001's on my new but I am unsure if I'd be taking a step back.

Curious to see If anyone has had the chance to use both of these tyres yet or just the Adrenalins.

The tyre thread had some but not many users of the adrenalins. Those who did said they were good, but there were more people who used the T1R's and said they were great.

I know wet weather grip for T1R's is great, Is it also very good for the RE001's?

Hey mate, have Re001's on the car at the moment and i'd swear by these tyres. Haven't tried the toyo's nor been in a car with them on, but i am really happy with the performance of the Adrenalins and would definelty get them again.

I'd like to compare them back to back, but I can't afford to do that. I've priced the T1R's and RE001's and both are $330 for 255/40/R17.

I had T1R's on the stock rims in 205/55/R16 so I won't really be able to do a proper comparison if I get the RE001's on my new rims. I currently have RE01's but are on their last few 100kms of life left till they're illegal, and they seem to stick pretty good.

SLEEPR85 how's your wet weather grip? Try T1R's out next time and see how you like them ...I dare ya :P They are a great tyre.

I'm just keen to try something different to what I've used but not sacrifice grip from what I know is good.

your comparing different sorts of tyres, the R1-R is nearly a semicomp, where as the RE001 is a street tyre and isn't any where near as soft, it's only a replacement for the rest of the old RE040's and the likes. If your looking for grip i'd be going the toyos for sure

Id go the Toyo in this instance from what i have seen and read.

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to get at. Not many seem to have tried the RE001's on here, but those who have say they are good. Just like the people who have used the T1R's say they are good, but there seems to be more who have used the T1R's and not the RE001's

I have RE001's on my front and i'm very happy with them.

Don't know much about the toyo's though so i can't compare.

Would you get them on the back when they're due?

I've ordered the RE001's today. So probably next week i'll get them on or so. I'm expecting to be impressed with all the RE001 hype and advertising money they've spent for these tyres. So the theoretically should be just as good or better than T1R's. If not, I'll go back to Toyo's.

I herd disapointing reviews of the RE01's from the racers at superlap on the GTR's. The times confirm the poor performance. The Falkins were much better. I had just purchased R1R's from the first Australian batch and they are simply amazing.

I highly recomend you try and get a set of them.

Yeah sorry I got confused. I thought you were talking about the RE-01R. Which is ment to be Bridgeies best street tyre but really isnt anything too special. But you were talking about the RE001 which I know nothing about.

I must say, I gave these RE-01R's a test on the twisties today because I haven't really done so beforehand. Maaaaaaan they stick like glue to the road.

Since the rear RE-01R's are on the indicators now I'll have RE001's on the back when they get fitted and RE-01R's on the front.

I'm hoping they'll grip nicely for a street tyre like others have experienced. Overall I'm impressed with the tyres I've got now.

Thanks for the replies, looks like they should turn out to be a nice tyre, but like I said before, I'm still a bit spewin that they won't be as good as what I've got now.... At the same time though I'm sure they'll be quite adequate for what I use the car for.

I bought a set of brand new Bridgestone Adrenalin RE001s for my R33 GT-R in 255/45 ZR17. That's one at each corner on standard R33 GT-R wheels, with TEIN coilovers.

That was a good few months ago. These tyres replaced Dunlop Direzzas which were on the wheels prior (which were basically bald). Clearly I lost a fair bit of outright grip going to the Adrenalins and certainly a lot of steering response (with the Direzzas nearly bald, steering was on the verge of darty, particularly over bumps and ridges when the car would tramline terribly).

So at first the Adrenalins made me think they were a bit soft and squidgy, despite running around 37-38 psi cold pressure as I usually do. After a little bit of 'spirited driving' here and there I think they've worn in nicely now (either that or the psychological 'novelty' of the tyres has worn off and I've adapted my driving style) and they seem pretty well keyed into the road. In the wet they also seem competent. I have probably driven the car about 6-7 tenths since getting these tyres in the dry, and maybe only 3/10ths in the wet (haven't driven the car much lately) but in those conditions I'm quite happy with them.

I'll soon be getting some 18"x 10" GT-Cs delivered, which I'll need new rubber for, and I'd be happy to go Adrenalin's on those too, but I'll be reading up some more on these and other forums to see what alternatives out there.

I just had these fitted on today. I did 1st and 2nd gear run and they gripped nicely without breaking any traction. It had the slightest sound of skittle on the 1st to 2nd gear change. I let the clutch off slow then planted it and it stuck all the way.

I'll post back later i've got to go do something....

So they seem to be gripping nicely at the moment, but I'll have to wait till they're run in so I'll give ya's all an update in due time.

One thing I noticed with the T1R's when I first bought them is how squishy they felt, after a couple of weeks of driving on them the squishy feeling disappeared and they felt good. These don't really feel squishy but I get the feeling of softness going from the RE-O1R's to the RE001's. So I'll see how they are in time.

One other thing, I took a corner at a pace today, it was a 90 degree bend and i got understeer.... strange. Maybe I turned to harshly, I just figured it would point and go like before, but not quite. Maybe my front's dont stick as well as the new rears.

Earlier this week I discovered that my RE-01R's suck in the wet. I pulled out onto the road just after I rolled through a puddle in the driveway at work and the road was still moderately wet. Drove out in first and only mildy hit boost and the rears lost traction which pointed me in the direction i wanted to go in quite quickly. It was fun though haha. So I get the feeling that when I do drive in the wet, my fronts are going to have considerably less traction than the rear, which should cause me understeer.

I have Adrenalins on my car now.

255/40/17 rear

235/45/17 front

250rwkw, they are better in grip than the 3000A's i had when they were new (XR6 tyre, old gen). And i must admit the 3000A's were amazing considering in 16's they cost me $150ea new in what, '03 :cool:

The RE001's hold perfectly almost everytime in the dry with full throttle. Wet is surprisingly decent as well, can still get a fair amount of power down before its arguing. I haven't dont any big launches yet to see how they perform off the mark, however rolling starts from 20km/h and WOT are no problem.

Been on several hard twisty runs now also, although im not pushing them as hard as i could as my brakes aren't upto the task yet (warped rotors i need to fix)

So in saying that... They respond really well for a dedicated street tyre... cant ask for much more than that considering the price i paid.

FYI - im also running extra camber and nothing stock suspension wise and so on also which aids for the hill runs and i dont really notice much understeer. So overall very very happy

    • I'm running a Haltech Platinum Pro with the stock map for the RB20DET + tweaks for my build. When I started it this morning, the IAT was at 32F/0C (Outside temp was ~42F) and the AFRs went off the scale for my AEM gauge. I let it run for ~30 seconds then turned it off. I then did a smoke test, by hooking into a vacuum line directly behind the throttle body, and confirmed there was no leaks ( i let the smoke tester run for ~5 minutes / confirmed it was generating smoke before hand ). I then started the car again, after fixing a power steering leak.... and it seemed to be happy for ~30 seconds (was at ~11/12), but then seemingly shot back up to ~18 again. I then let the car run for a few minutes, thinking this was just cold start related, but the AFRs never came back down. I didn't let the car fully warm up, so maybe this makes sense, but I'm not sure what to do? The AFRs, when I last ran it, were normal, but because of personal reasons I haven't been able to break in the car. It was rebuilt last year. Engine / Mod list: Supertec pistons Spool rods Kelford 270 cams and Springs Stock crank Deatschwerks 900cc injectors Walbro 255 (Wired directly to the battery relocated in the trunk) NKG Audi R8 Coil packs + Conversion Harnesses from Wiring Specialties Holset HY35 turbo Haltech Platinum Pro ECU Haltech boost controller (wired in for high boost RB25 Neo transmission + needed bits for the speedo to work  
    • Not great at getting the camera out fast enough for cars driving. Even in traffic. S15 is in front of the kei truck.
