lol.... I'm looking at the skies this morning and wondering what tomorrow will bring!

I'm hoping to get one more day out of my old 02G hards that have actually started to blue. They're virtually bald too which could make things, lets say, interesting

Lakeside in the wet would make for an entertaining ride :D

it does :) a bit sideways under the bridge in 4th - no idea what speed but this was on my fastest lap after passing the STi that had been holding me up :P

Lakeside sprints deferred to Sunday 19th October 2008

The only winner at yesterday’s Round 4 of the Lakeside Sprint Series was the rain!

With cars slipping off into the mud we decided to hold the event off until next Sunday when it will re-commence from scratch. Don’t get there too early as the gates won’t open until 09:00 on Sunday October 19th.

Due to the sad and selfish misbehavior of the driver of the White Escort on Saturday it has been decided that NO race cars will be permitted to enter or run at these sprints again unless it meets the roadworthy requirements – including road tyres and road exhaust systems.

The LSS is for cars that are road-worthy and road registerable. We did accept a couple of race car entries by mistake that we should not have, but decided to honour those acceptances and live with our mistake on this occasion. Let’s make it absolutely clear, all cars running in the series must meet ADR requirements. Further, the race prepared cars that are permitted to run will not be awarded points as it is patently unfair for road cars if they have to compete with fully prepared and sorted race cars – even if they are on road rubber.

In 2009 there will be an equivalent to Ipswich’s TopGear Sprint Series for these race cars to have fun in as long as they meet the noise requirements.

If you must make noise above Lakeside’s permitted level go to Ipswich or Warwick. If your car gets a black flag for exceeding the noise requirements at Lakeside at any event you MUST come back to the pits immediately where assistance will be given to help you to meet the sound limits.

People who ignore the black flag will be banned from participation in events at Lakeside.

Get the message out there - no ignorant, aggro or selfish competitor will be allowed to put the use of Lakeside at risk for the rest of us, that can respect other people’s needs and the effort it has taken to get Lakeside to this level of availability.

We look forward to seeing the 71 people who did do the right thing again on Sunday morning for another great day on this historic track.

Thanks & Regards, jt

way to go Danny Mischok! a driver with at least 10 years experience in IPRA circuit racing even manages to look like a total fkwit in a field of noobs in their road cars! good work mate!

looks like I'll be back in the Supra instead of the Datto this weekend...

and not so good if you already paid good money for one

I think the best bet these days for a cheap light rwd car is the 120Y coupe, but they are a bit thin on the ground and their prices are just starting to take off too. I think they look great with a nice low stance and wide rubber to fill up those gaurds. here's an example (not mine)

I have a 120Y coupe at home as a project car (also have a 120Y wagon, but lets not talk about that!). Bigger engine bay and trans tunnels than the 1200 make conversions easier. also much easier to fit bigger rads and alot of room for an intercooler behind the grill. the gaurds take wider wheels without mods - 7" wide easily, 8"s on the rear can be done with just a bit of pumping. Taiwanese gaurds and bonnets or fibreglass replacements are available. Just think of the fun you could have beating WRXs and Evos in a 120Y!

Well done again Harry on some outstanding times in your Supra  I'm just glad I have a new PB of 62.85, not so stoked about popping my gearbox though

Thanks Ben. Always good getting a new PB You've got that little GTSt doing very good times! Imagine what it will do with a bit of sorting and getting rid of that old hard rubber! Shame about the box, but at least it was late in the day and the car was still driveable. Are they known to be weak in 5th?

With the cooler weather I was hoping to sneak into a 61, but a bit surprised to go quite that deep into the ones with a 61.39  I had a good look at the tach at the end of the main straight a couple of times - 5800rpm in 5th there works out to be 214kph.

Here's hoping they don't alter the track too much for next year! I HATE the idea Tetly mentioned of running cars through the bus-stop. That makes the best corner on the track into a straight :)

Yeah I'm not really sure mate, I think maybe I was a little over eager slotting 5th home and lunched it, as the synchro had been a little slow heading to 5th for a while.

It's a great time for your daily driver! I looked at my tacho going through the kink, 6900 in 5th, I'll have to find what that works out to be. I didn't look at it before the braking zone, little busy picking my mark lol :)

Yeh i wasn't to stoked about that at all either, time will tell I guess. Might have to sneak out there and take a look once they've starting earthmoving work?

6,900rpm in 5th is moving. I think thats about the sort of revs i hit down the straight at PI? Is that possible? I guess that means you were over 225km/h.

Harry, what is done to the Supra? I mean tyres and suspension wise? I dont know Lakeside lap times...but it seems the thing gets along well

I can't vouch for the accuraccy of the tacho in an 18 year old car, but it's definately moving. Consider I'm entering the straight at a fair clip in fourth gear and pulling fifth about 30 yards before the tower, seems pretty accurate to me? Lakeside is quick you know :)

    • The MX5 has had some annoying rattles in both front doors over bumps So I installed fancy pants door bushings, which stopped all of the rattles with the windows up, but........with the windows down there was still rattles, so after some googling,  and a chat with MX5 Mania, I got some new door to glass weather seals, all the rattles, windows up, or down, are gone now Shout out to MX5 Mania, the weather seals were on sale, and when I head to Dural to pick the up they even fitted them for me for free I did see a "really" nice Blue NA sitting out front   and this Black NC PRHT that looked like it has sat in the sun for its whole life and never had a wash, the clear coat was non-existent, an it looked horrible, really horrible, but, it had a nice turbo kit with over 200kw, the thing went like a cut snake, bagging the rears through the gears and dosing like a champ 😍 But, as I've always stated, I am keeping my NC na, I'm happy with the current power the car makes In other news: MX5 Mania do a drive in drive out turbo kit, the only minor additional part recommended for boosting my car, as it sits now, is a oil cooler, and that bonnet vents are definitely required for track use Aftermarket version look a bit to "racecar" spec I wonder how Focus RS bonnet vents would look?????
