Isnt the 044 pump a EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP?or are you guys saying its easily done do to put it inside the tank?abit confused :/

Ive lost count of the GTRs using 044's without problems.

Being external doesn't mean anything in this instance.

There is a DIY on these forums about it, have a search.

You'll probably get one for $230 delivered, they're renowned around the world to be a good pump, and easily do enough flow for when you rebuild your engine later on (and of course will do your current target), so I don't see why you'd bother with denso. 044's are available from sau forum sponsors very easily. I have a feeling denso are used in supras-I'll find out soon enough when upgrading mine

Had a 044 in tank setup in my old 32GTR. Had to spend more $$$ on fittings.... They work well and I never had any issues with it being the only pump and in tank.

Just bought a Nismo fuel pump for the 34. Paid about $450 for it, drop in replacement. 9615 is the only number on the pump itself, and came with nismo paperwork, in Japanese of course...

I have been told they are the same as Denso, made by Denso as well.

Only bought it because I wanted a new/fresh pump and drop it in.

Tuner (with a 7 second R32) just told another customer with a GTR looking for 400kw to replace his Nismo with a Bosch 044 intank (no surge tank) because " the Nismo drops off at high boost"! (he was at the time giving a second opinion after another tuner told him the same!).

Define 'high boost' we talking 20psi or 40psi?

Plenty of cars running 400rwkw with a Nismo on 20-22psi with a 2.8-3ltr.

For anyone interested i did digging the other day with some actual flow test data.

Factory GTR pump flow: 230L/hr @ 72psi (13.5V)

So lets assume a Nismo pump is the same as stock GTR pump (its 25% more apparently, I have reason to think its the same, thats for another discussion)

Bosch Flow Rate PDF (63kb).

Bosch 044: 200L/hr @ 72psi (12V)

So clearly the Bosch if wired up @ 13.5V will flow more, and that overall the Bosch would be the better pump - I'm sure we can all agree on that.

Bosch/Nismo, pretty close. Bosch will flow more @ 72psi, but it's not huge amounts.

nismoid. that test is a bit off. no way does a nismo pump flow the same as a stock GTR pump..... they flow 276l/ph stock around 200 and bosch 044 around 230.

No it's not. Nismo pumps, according to their spec sheet - flow 276l/ph @ 3.0kg/cm2 !!!

3.0kg/cm2 = 42psi, pretty much stock rail pressure.

Add more pressure, it totally changes the game. No one runs 42psi fuel pressure on a boosted application.

If you look at the testing - its at 72psi not 42psi. The flow rate is nowhere near 276l/ph once you add 20psi.

The Bosch is also tested @ 72psi, so it's comparing on a even playing field. Not Nismo's pointless specification.

nismoid, they are tested at 3bar as all modern EFI systems are a 3 bar system. ie base pressure of 3bar (2.5bar with engine running). that is factory pressure. I don't run increased pressure on my cars. why on earth would you? 72psi base pressure is nuts. I run standard 3bar base ( which = 36psi at idle). add say 20psi boost and I still only get to 60psi or so at max boost. most pumps are quoted/rated at 3bar. it's an industry standard. the other question is voltage. vary voltage up and down and figures go all over the place. same with pressure. if anything the nismo rating is conservative compared to other pump ratings and in my experience they will outflow an 044 by miles. and they most certainly do not flow the same as a stock GTR pump.....

Not really sure what you are getting at in the above. The statement made, Nismo drops off @ high boost, was quite simple.

Hence the use of 72psi, equal to around 30psi boost give/take.

Talking about 3bar/EFI standards is nice, but effectively pointless in this discussion.

There is no actual flow data anywhere around for a Nismo pump @ anything other than base rail pressure, which is utterly useless. Standard or no standard it offers nothing to help confirm/deny.

Until someone actually has Nismo flow data, it's just speculation. You cannot say for certain that @ 60-70psi the flow is still 25% more (what Nismo quote @ base). It could indeed drop off making the comment valid.

All my post did was seek to give an idea of the comments validity.

Blitz sus power pods (already have full greddy piping kit)

Hope to run 20-22psi as well. We shall see what power it makes.

Only question that remains is should I get set of split fire coils or HKS twin power DLI II?

    • interestingly enough, i found out the answer is yes. doing a flush did fix my recurring A/T light. it might have been because of the trans filter: but that doesn't really make sense to me. the fluid/filter was super dirty. would that increase the pressure in the lines and trigger an A/T light? does the car even have a way of detecting that? i have no idea. i've done 200+ miles after the flush and no A/T light. if my A/B solenoids went bad, i would think the light would've come on. shifts and drives way better now though...at 2k rpm instead of 2500...no hesitation and downshifts when i want it to. 
    • I vote go red. Only because I hate keeping gloss black clean. Was no worries helping out either! Glad you've survived the rain outs of QLD
    • I would again like too thank Matt for his help in me sourcing the detachable hard top for the little red car, without Matt's assistance in inspecting it and locking it down, I can guarantee it would have sold before I could get up to see it,  and as that was the only available NC hardtop in Australia, I consider myself extremely lucky on multiple levels To say I'm more that happy would be an understatement And, it is 100% water tight, I drove through torrential rain coming back south, and by torrential, they type of rain that doing 40kph in a 110kph zone was a real thing, and even then, the standing water on the Hwy was deep enough to throw waves I'm also more than happy that the huge "BEASTS" that Matt calls dogs didn't eat me for lunch, I'm sure the sniffs and licks were more to "taste test" me, over being to friendly Now to work out what colour to get it painted, panel match, or gloss black........first world problems are real
