*Most people who don't live in the only state with a one intake mod law :)

Also who needs power in Victoria, it's always raining... Everything feels like 1000hp in the rain :nyaanyaa:

You raise some valid points there...

I got nothin :teehee:

Hypergear can high flow them to around -5 specs (i think it was around $900~ per turbo + delivery), theres a set for sale in the for sale section for a good price and comes with stock manifolds ported to match and theyre brand new!.

If you are keen to let go of your -7s at a good price, i may be interested :)

If the dumps are split dumps (eg HKS), get rid of them and put on stock R34GTR dumps or even better the early model Tomei dumps (HPI is also good). This makes a big difference and Yavuz (Unigroup) will agree. Rest should be fine

Cam gears; Call RacePace in Bayswater Victoria for a price. They do their own, cost less than the Japanese brands but every bit as strong (if not stronger given they're using the stock outer section) and why not support local business

Injectors; ID1000's. May seem like a lot of capacity, but they drive better than the factory 444cc ones do, come with everything to fit RB26 etc and for Unigroup it's nothing they havnt done before. I cant comment on your fuel econ, thats for Yavuz to do, but I can tell you I had another brand of 1000's in my car, made the power fine but drivability was crap and fuel usage was a joke. Went to ID2000's and couldnt believe how the car drives now (just like stock, no jerking in very low throttle situations like carparks)

Would i be right to use something like the x-force dumps, tomei are too dear but super nice?? currently looking into R34 Gtr ones (what does a set go for roughly) will have the car on hoist this weekend so will have a look at what is all under there?

x force and various other dumps here:

http://www.300zx.com.au/pricelists/pricelist_gtrexhaust.htm

Also is worth while to port match the manifolds?? or should i look at something like the UAS extrude honed manifolds (link above)??

Looking at a new set of Tomei cam gears at present that are for sale in forums and got a good price and run down from Race Pace on their cam gears also? any preference or better way to go??

as for above post^^ sorry man looks like we are holding onto the dash 7s (presumed) for the time being..

If however down the track we might see.

thanks again for the help.

Ill make it as easy as I can so you can see the difference;

Split;

hks-dump-coated.jpg

Open;

TomeiRB26Dump.jpg

The split versions are not as good as the open (tested at Unigroup, they can confirm if you like), so they're an item that is worth spending the extra and getting the right one the first time. Yes it makes a difference. Ill PM you a contact for getting stuff cheap

Manifolds; Yes it's shown as worthwhile vs buying a set of stainless (dont buy stainless), I dont think UAS offer that service anymore though. The results I posted were with 100% stock manifolds that have not been touched in any way at all. I got a set done by someone in Sydney who knows his sh!t bigtime, he's not a business though, just a normal individual so if you wanted a set done I can ask if he can fit them in if you wanted. No guarantee's he will he say yes though. There's no way in hell i'd use a set of umodified stockers with that big ugly lip on them, If i had a picture of my modified ones i'd post it up but I dont sorry

Cam gears; What price have you got for Tomei and what price have you got for RacePace? I prefer the stock looking RacePace ones (cleaner look), but answer the questions on cost and that should make the choice simple.

Thanks very much mate for the detail. so basically xforce = split and better off going with 34gtr stock or tomei as are open.

would def appreciate the contact mate thanks!

yep, cant agree more. have read all the write ups about stainless over stock etc, would never look at getting stainless.

If you could ask him that would be something i would be very interested in cheers!. Unigroup dont provide such a service?? id prefer to keep the stock manifold were possible and port match were possible, over forking out for a brand new already ported manifold where possible.

The tomei gears are here: $400 delivered

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/369701-brand-new-tomei-inex-cam-gears-pulley-rb-202526/page__p__5893114#entry5893114

Race pace: $350.

Ben at Race Pace said their in house gears are better for longevity as of the composition of the adjustable centre. (i also like yourself like the plainness of them over the flashy red tomei)

However the tomei are a good price from what ive researched.

thoughts??

Contact sent.

Unigroup dont really do jobs like that, thats not to say they wouldnt, the person I'm referring to is a customer of theirs and they'd probably ring him about it anyway.

Buy the RacePace cam gears. They work perfectly on a range of very hard driven GTR's without issue are $50 less and look nice and subtle.

The split design everybody has ripped off from HKS. The culprits being X-Force, CES, OBX, autobahn888 etc.. unfortunately they all have ripped off a flawed design. The split is just too short at approx 5-6" (I can't find the info I've read in the past, but Garrett's research has said there is no benefit to rejoining the wastegate and main exhaust gases until at least 12-18" down the main exhaust pipe)

theres afew r34 gtr dump pipes for sale recently in the for sale section

Cheers man.

Have contacted a few guys.

Just missed out on a set however should hopefully be able to snap a set before tune.

Looking to book a tune pretty soon, should come out haha. identical gtrs lol

im going to the star light foundation cruise on sunday should come along, would be good to see your car and have a chat

did you book your car with unigroup yet? like i said there would be atleast a 2 week wait...

Great thread for us new guys. Search FTW.

I bought my car recently off a friend; 1990 R32 GTR. He did all the work, well paid for it, as I remember helping him with most of the stuff. I spent plenty of my weekends in his garage helping him out. So for me it was a good buy, as I knew the car inside out.

I am wondering if the engine is showing signs of 20years worth of wear, because it has all the following parts and puts out 260kw at the wheels at 22psi with sub 20 reading on the PFC knock sensor.

Garrett -7's

3" + dumps

550s

yellow tails coils

PFC

Z32’s AFM

cam gears

Nismo fuel reg and 044 pump

oil cooler

serviced and dyno'd at CRD

CRD have been great, so I think it’s the engine. Should I start preparing for an engine build? Slowly start accumulating parts like an N1 block, pistons.... If so, should I stick with updating the usual suspects, water/oil pumps, pistons …..

If you do want to build it, work out what you want to do with the car. If you want to change to larger turbo's down the track etc.

But yeah, Pistons, Crank Collar, new bearings and buy the best oil pump you can afford, usual stuff. you will be looking at around $7k

Hey Fellas Could i please have some quick advice.. I own a 94 R32 GTR and Im after this power bracket as my goal also.

Now i have Stock turbos with Steel Wheels and unopened engine.

Im aware that the standard front mount intercooler is perfect for the job to reach this bracket but i would really love to get something that looks nicer that stands out... I was wondering if i could please get some advice to purchase a decent intercooler that will do the job at least as good or better then the standard one, as long as its not worse then the standard one... I was thinking about getting it sprayed silver, duno how id go about it though. Maybe i should get a R34 GTR intercooler but i cant seem to find someone thats selling one right now.

If i had to get a intercooler should i go fatter? i've been told go 100mm thick, Would that be better or stupid to do?. I Really dont want to cut shit on my car to fit this so something that will directly fit onto the car would be great.

Thanks heaps in advance for any help!

Spray the stock one silver if thats the colour you're after. Anything else is, as you put it; stupid. Well, unless you have some money you dont need in your wallet anymore. That said, it's your car so modify as you like :)

Yeah i was thinking the same thing, but is there a special way or place to get this sprayed. I dun wna destroy it ey. I love the aftermarket polished look tho. hard choice, but if i had to get a cheap shit aftermarket it could possibly be worse then stock hey

something like this would be awesome .. http://www.rimtuck.com/photo/view/322/1229916941.jpg/2

Putting on a 100mm thick core for a stock setup, ridiculous advice whoever gave it to you.

If you want it silver etc, just drop it off and get it stripped.

The black is just paint/coating. Any panel or polish joint will do it for a few bucks.

    • Also had a look at the Nissan JP website looks like the 400r has a slightly shorter ratio than than the regular V37 3.133 VS 2.937 which from a guy who has driven both 3.69 vs 4.11 ratios in the S15 is bugger all. Seems that the AUTO Z runs the same ratio as the 400R but can't find any info as to if its an open or LSD? More often than not the auto LSD is open
    • Do not replace the power steering lines with this stuff. If it's anything like the Chase Bays stuff it will leak and be worse than stock. The reason why the reservoir is on the LH/passenger side of the car is because that's just where the reservoir was most convenient to fit. Don't overthink this stuff. The intake/cold side of the engine is pretty busy on these cars. And again, the hardpipe is designed to be a janky power steering cooler. In theory you can replace it with a real power steering cooler but that's really only for track use where boiling the fluid is a distinct possibility. Start with the low pressure lines feeding the pump from the reservoir. Make sure there isn't a bunch of junk in the reservoir filter. Be careful to not get ATF all over the engine bay. I hate dealing with ATF spills, you can clean it up and the slightest crevice will still release more oil that can still drip over time. You also want to inspect for leaks before you make a mess and can't tell what happened. Most likely you have a leak somewhere that is allowing fluid out and air in. Failing that it's allowing air in but not fluid out. Only place I can really see that happening is on the low pressure side because the pump will pull a slight vacuum to draw fluid in. Everything after the pump is high pressure or lower pressure, approaching atmospheric by the time it returns to the reservoir.
    • I did a skidpan night at SMSP this week, it was much cheaper than $350. But yeah, you need to slap an LSD in that thing.  I put an OS Giken in the 370Z and it's f**king MARVELOUS even compared to Nissan's viscous LSD. So you're saying it's free now that it's a housing estate? 😂
    • Nah, the car seems to run exactly as it did prior, in saying this it does "seem" to be better down low, like more eager to rev, but that may be 100% placebo effect from intake noise But, I'm not worried about it at all, in the end it is a fairly low compression NA engine that has a well shrouded intake,  if it is getting hotter IAT I cannot notice anything negative performance wise from the seat of my pants thrashing it about on the street or sitting in traffic, so meh, car now now makes induction noise so I'm happy
    • Do you have an IAT sensor? It's worth checking it to see. You may be suprised how little gap you actually need to flood your engine with hot air. (I tape up my airbox for a reason) :p
