Just bought a N/A r33 manual and have some questions.

Regarding the 4 stud wheels.. what wheels fit?

what is the offset and information I need?

what are some other cars with the same pattern?

will s13 and 200sx wheels fit?

Where is the best place to look for second hand wheels?

Could multistud wheels fit?

Also the car has a stock exhaust which i want to make much louder, something like a 2.5 or 3inch exhaust, what will I need?

how much do I need to spend?

Where can i find good second hand exhausts?

Do any other cars/models fit an r33 N/a?

Will a turbo exhaust fit?

When they say cat back does that mean it is including the cat?

Any information will be highly appreciated.

Also yes i have tryed to search and failed to find the info that I need

Thanks,

Nathan

First off, welcome!

As for the 4-stud wheels... my N/A 33 had the 5-stud conversion when I got it, so I can't help you there.

The exhaust however... I can :)

The previous owner of mine put a JASMA 3" mandrel-bent exhaust designed for a high-flowing turbo 33 on there... had just a single resonator and then into two straight-through cannons. It was *very* loud (I loved the note it had!)... certainly well over the legal 90dB. Anyway, eventually I got EPA'd for noise pollution and had to get it replaced. I got a 2.5" system made up from the cat-back, two resonators and no milo-tin exhaust, and that's bang on 90dB. Still roars when you give it some stick, but now I can come home late at night and not wake up all the neighbours! The major difference (apart from the volume of course) however was the power delivery. With the 3" system on, there was not enough backpressure or something... the power (what little power you have on an RB25DE) started to be delivered from around 4000RPM and would pull ll the way to the red-line (about 6800RPM). This meant you really did have to do a fair bit of clutch slipping for sedate city driving, as there just wasn't enough low-down torque. With the 2.5" system now, the power is there much lower... say 1800-2000 RPM, and tapers off around the 6000RPM mark. This certainly makes it much more driveable for a daily.

The 2.5" system, I got made up for a couple of hundred (was about $250-300, but that included the actual EPA testing...), and as much as I loved that deafening roar that would set off car-alarms jsut from driving past, the 2.5" system is much, much better.

Oh, and cat-back generally doesn't include the cat. :)

Thanks for the reply Samon.. is your Jasma exhaust for sale?? :)

anyway I am not to worried about the performance side I'm only interested in the noise, as the N/A is certainly no performance car. Although i definatley do not want to loose any power.

When you say 250-300 is that a full exhaust system? where could i get it done for that price

I dont want to spend more than 300-350, thats why i'm looking at second hand.

If i found a catback exhaust for a r33 turbo, or r32,34 silvia or some other nissans would it be a straight fit?

Also does anyone know rough 1/4mile times or 0-100 times for a r33coupe na manual?

Not from personal exp, but from reading another thread on here some time ago.. 0-100 for na manual was about 4.5 seconds

Ummm... I think you'll find that was for a turbo... my N/A when completely stockers was getting around the 6.0-6.5 sec 0-100, and around 15 sec 1/4 mile. (Measured with a G-Tech Pro... not 100% accurate but pretty damn good!)

Sorry, the old exhaust is sitting in the garage for when I do my turbo conversion :)

Pretty much any exhaust shop should be able to make one up... that was just a mild-steel one with pressed-bends... if you want stainless or mandrel-bends (really overkill for N/A though...) you're gonna have to pay more. Oh, and that's just with a crappy looking piece of 2.5" black pipe coming out of the rear muffler, no tip or anything. I was only interested in a pass on the EPA test!

Any exhaust from an R33 will fit, be it turbo or non-turbo, but liek I said, too big and you will really loose the low-down torque and driveability. And remember... 2.5" pipe through two mufflers is still damn loud! The N/A is much louder as the turbo on the GTSt acts as an extra muffler, filtering and chopping up the sound that leaves the block... everyone I know says that yeah, it's better (i.e. quieter) than the old exhaust, but still damn loud. I can still set off car alarms occasionally :) Get it inside a multistory carpark (i.e. at my work) and people can hear me coming a few levels away... and that's not me giving it stick either! The other advantage is that it doesn't 'drone' like it used to. At 100ks on the freeway there was this horrible drone that would drive you crazy... now, gone.

Seriously, put a 3" exhaust on an N/A 2.5L engine, and you'll regret it.

hey nathan... im kinda on the same boat as you... but i done the turbo conversion so im trying to find 4 stud wheels as well and there isn't much out there... the 3 spoke Advan wheels are pretty nyc if you can find some second hand ones.. there are also LENSO multi stud wheels which also look pretty nice.. i think they are the GF7...

as for exhaust... i have goten my hands on two catback exhaust systems... one is a kakimoto 3-3.5 inch exhaust and the other is a Fujitsubo i think 2.5 inch with a twin outlet.. looks similar to stock but bigger and better flow.. i think i might put the kakimoto one on my car so the Fujitsubo exhaust will be up for sale... if your interested i can take some pics and we can discuss a price... are u in melbourne by any chance? as postage can be a pain... thanks :P

Thanks for all the replies so far guys!

few more questions

So basically i need a 2.5inch exhaust from cat back? when people say 2.5in catback is that including a cannon?

also with the wheels.. what other cars wheels fit??

What do i need to look for when looking for wheels?

all catbacks come with the muffler at the end.. some have a cannon.. if you just want the look of a big cannon sticking out the end of ur car then jst go to any exhaust shop and they will weld you a cannon onto a piece of steel and onto your cat... cheap around 300 buks but they can be loud and drony...

here are pics of the exact same exhaust i will have for sale.. found these pics from an old for sale thread... my exhaust is the same as this...Fujitsubo, a quality japanese brand.. twin 2.5 inch outlets.. and two mufflers...

thanks
