ive had the baddest luck this week..

some bloody stupid cat decided to go drifting on my car causing scratches to the rear driver side quarter & roof.

now there is tiny spots of tree sap all over the car.

how do i remove tree sap from the windows & body without damaging the paintwork?

ive readup for the windows to use nail polish or metho but not for the body as it will ruin the paint.

any ideas?

cheers

Hi.

The best system is hot water( not boiling but hot)mixed with some detergent- melts the sap and the detergent cleans it off.

^ ill try the hot water & detergent method this weekend.

gonna try get rid of the damn claw marks too!

using scratch X & give it a good wax/buff.

let you know how it goes.

cheers guys

i also used hot soapy water to get tree sap off. works great. comes off really easy too. its better if you can sit the car in the sun for a little while first, to let the panels warm up.

and ppl were telling me to use alcohol and shit on my paint. pffft :)

Before you get the claw marks off, do you want a loan of

i) DNA Test Kit and then

ii) a Shotgun?

sorry if it's been said, i only looked at the op, had the same problem. fairly hot soapy water, & a decent scrub with a sponge helps take it away bit by bit. polished after wards on the panels & just persisted with the windows. it's quite annoying haha.

  • 3 months later...

I got some tree sap over my bonnet on Christmas Day.

Not good. The detergent just spread it around and it remained sticky.

Some obscure info came up on Google about using lard!

So after 3 minutes of using bacon fat, the SAP simply DISSOLVED !!!! Brilliant !!!!

Detergent just took the rest of that mixture away.
