Hey getting my sound gear installed tomorrow but got quoted 750. The guy i bought the sound gear off who gave me an awesome deal referred to this guy they are mates. The installer owns his own custom shop. Had a look and they seem extremely professional. But the price seems a little high, a few years ago i thought 300 would be about right. Below is what is getting done

Install dvd/deck

Install Soundstream front/splits and rears (note they need spacers and a bit of customising as they are very thick/big)

Install soundstream rears

Install 4 channel amp to run speakers

Install subs (note the are already boxed with outlets)

Install amp to run subs

Install neons for under dash in car

Cheers

nah, that's about right... if the install is quality with all wires hidden, everything solidly in place and all connections crimped and done properly, that's an alright price

But to be honest, I wouldn't really know cause I do it all myself... for free! ;)

Cheers buddy dont feel as bad for forking out anymore

I cant stop spending money on this car, its a curse i tells yah

yeah I have to admit, even if that was for a very close friend, that is a shit load of work! I would set aside an entire weekend for it and ask for at least 300 in cash... and then I would expect them to get me laid the next weekend...

most friends only need a headunit or a sub installed or something like that, they don't go the full hilt like you and I ;)

right on doof, do it urself and save $$$ put it towards other mods...

nothing beats spending a weekend with ur car interior scattered all over the garage floor!!!

Doof, did you make your sub boxes yourself as well? Your boot install is pretty out there from memory although i havent seen it myself.

Cheers,

Nah, that was the only part I palmed off to someone else. Never learnt how to fibreglass on my first car and I didn't want to f**k it up on the line :D

The boxes in the boot is all I didn't do. I didn't even let them install anything, I gave them one sub to measure and that's it... I installed and wired up everything else :D

I have to admit, after doing that since I was 16, I can think of a LOT of things that beat it :P

But I wouldn't let anyone else touch it in a million years :D I love working on my car, and it's even better when you have some mates, some beers and a good wam summer :P

that looks about right to me the neons alone take 2-3 hours at best.

the audio side of it is fairly involved. the front/rear speakers will need work to make them fit.

amps - depends on how they are done for me I would mount them on a panel

time wise its a full day job at a minimum.

I was getting the exact same type of equip (minus your brand names) in my 32 gtr and i got quoted $820 at one place and $890 at another.

Decided to pay my best mate $100 and my old man a case of beer and we got it done across 3 days.
