Single Din Gauge Holders

Does anybody know of anyone who makes a panel to fit into a slot in the radio section of the dash to accommodate gauges? Like the ones in autechs. I want something to fit a few small autometre gauges in there.

Was going to make up something nice out of some polished aluminium but if something already exists that would suit my current motivation level a whole lot better

Hmm.. I brought my din insert from egauges.com it was about 20 bucks US and fits ok (depends on where you put it) - I've got mine at the bottom (so climate control, stereo then gauges)....you will need to file/sand down the holes a little bit more to fit the gauges (52mm) and if you are going to put it in the middle slot then you will need down sand down the back of it as it extends a little bit...i'll get a pic up on here - my gauges stick out a from the facia (I don't want to cut up the surround to flush mount it

It's really much on what you want to do and what size you want to go?? Polished Aluminum would be nice but the shine in the sun would be annoying and potentially dangerous

Yeah the shiny-ness was the only thing worrying me. That would be good if you could post a quick pic. I found these ones on ebay..

Is your's similar to that? with the staggered sort of layout. Can't really go wrong for that sorta price

52mm gauges are too big to neatly fit within a DIN space.

the cleanest solution is the defi DIN gauge unit. stand alone three 40mm gauges,two temps and one pressure. available in green,white or red. if you're in Sydney, revolution race gear have one in red in stock atm,$550 if I remember right.

my girlfriend has one in the dash of her ae111. works very well.

I got a piece of 4mm perspex, cut it to fit single Din space, then drilled three holes for the gauges. Too easy.

You will hve to open up the holes a tad. Get a drill bit with a rotary burr on the top of the shank.

Mine is in the middle slot.

Not necessarily true, I managed to get my Defi's in there and it looks OK - not perfect, but most people don't notice that they're not perfectly spaced out.

I would have gone with the Defi DIN cluster, but you can't specify which meters will go in there, so I went with separates so I could choose to my needs.

I got an off-cut of Poly-Ethylene from a plastics mob here in Sydney, and it cost me nothing, luckily! My old man and I measured and trimmed it down, and got a hole-saw to cut the holes, which took quite a bit of time. Another problem is that it's impossible to find a 52mm hole-saw, so like Hugh mentions, you have to file or burr the holes out until the gauges fit. Keep the holes a bit tight too, that way they won't budge while you're driving, and will be much harder to steal if anyone should ever attempt it. I made some small brackets for the back to secure the gauges to as well, just as added protection.

You'll find the angled ones don't quite fit properly and most likely you need to trim the fascia to make it fit.

fergo308 - while the defi dim gauge set is good - the major problem is that you only get two temps and a pressure....nothing else...I've got boost, oil temp and volts.

Goldzilla's idea is pretty much the best way to fit 3 gauges on there (i've got mine the setup like that but the other way around - gauges on the bottom and stereo above.

Can't do it, unfortunately, as the surround that came with the head unit is too big to fit between the dash surround as it is, and too fragile to cut down to squeeze in there... It'll probably break as I try to trim it.

The Defi Din gauges are really good. but because it's two temp and and one pressue - it's of no value for me...Maybe down the line when i'm sick of my gauges and decide to mount my boost gauge somewhere else

David (Airbox) looks very neat...is all the gauges working and was it a pain to install??

all guages are working, I just need to fit the oil temp sensor, which I have, but am waiting until i fit an oil filter relocation kit. It was pretty straightforward to fit once I had worked out the wiring, had to file the stagea cage a bit and cut off the lugs which were attached to the guages.
