Does the car idle fine? Or does it hunt around a bit? Get some one to rev the car in neutral and stick your head near the SMIC and listen if you can hear a leak. If the intercooler is the only thing you have touched, then your problem lies there.

oh ok

so thats good

i was kinda thinking for some reason i coulda poped my turbo

but thats unlikely right?

i do rev it up to about 4.5k when i turn it on sumtimes just to check it was working when i installed the intercooler

but didnt pay attention to the boost at that time

but thats unlikely to have cause it right?

so more than likely its the piping not completely sealed?

any tips on sealing the pipes really good?

wat u mean rags?

is it likely at all that the smic is damaged?

by damamged i mena have a hole

If you had a hole, like a decent one in the SMIC, you'd have more dramas then no boost. It would be like trying to run with a cooler pipe off...

Rags, as in CLOTH...

Pull it all off, check pipes for blockages etc.

If you're only seeing MINUS 5, on the boost gauge, you're not even hitting atmospheric pressure, IE, you can't flow enough air through the pipes to even satisfy the engine if it were normally aspirated. You don't have a hole in the pipes, you have a blockage somewhere.

Either that, or have you taken the car for a drive and tried to boost it?

nah the car has no rego atm

so cant take it for a drive but when i rev it up a lil...it goes from minus seven up a bit then drops down a bit agen

and stays at that point

so its likely i have a blockage or leakage sumwhere?

just reving it normally can bring up boost

or am i wrong and imagining things?

On the stock turbo i think you can bring it onto a little bit of boost, 1-2psi, but most cars with a larger turbo you can't bring it onto boost without putting it under load.

well there is your problem lol

the car needs to be under load to create boost.....

take it for a drive....

Agree'd but you would still be able to hit 0 and should be eaisly able to pass -5... check for obstructions.

Depends how hard you're prepared to rev it and for how long to make boost...

Take it for a drive, you're most likely imagining things, and nothing is wrong.

    • The cam I am actually putting in (a few posts up) is actually smaller than my current one. At least duration/overlap wise. All the chop stuff I hear just sounds like an engine running badly, because it is. I then envision driving it around in 1st gear and being massively sad about it bucking to the beat of said chop. There is an idle video of someone with a similar cam floating around the internet, but mine is a custom cam (so is his) so it'll never be the same, plus the fact exhausts are entirely different. What I want to do is put some bullet mufflers/race mufflers in to replace a couple sections straight pipes that currently replace the two extra cats that I don't need. But this is even further down the line!
    • I can tell you now, when the bracket that the little hydraulic ram attaches to snaps, with a subframe, and V8 from an AMG C63 on it, it sounds like someone letting shotgun off right beside you. It leaves your ears ringing, and a huge thankfulness that you never ever put a body part under something heavy that's only supported by a hydraulic lift...
    • Still not a guarantee fix. I used a high quality butyl-mastiq (the black goo that's not really silicone nor polyurethane, same stuff they use from the factory that just spreads out like melty cheese), and I still get lots of water on both sides of the trunk when raining or washing the car. I also suspect the factory spoiler rubber gasket might not be sealing well, so I'm thinking of adding a thin layer of grey silicone around the bolt holes on both sides and see if that's where it also leaks from. The biggest issue is that these cars don't come with a drain hole on each side like other coupes and hatchbacks.
    • I hate it, but maybe he could paint it Monster jam style and call it...godzilla?
    • Would seem to me to be appropriate to go GTR style bar. There are options with and without N1 vent holes, with the GTR lower lip integral (because FG copy). https://justjap.com/search?q=r32 bumper
