I believe the bmw m5 has a twin turbo kit which mounts them at the rear of the car. Nets an extra 200ish hp

this is the new m5 btw.

the older 5litre v8 m5 has a twin turbo kit in the US.

-again some useful info for bmw enthusiasts.

Boobs........boobs.......two girls......boobs......

Huh? Oh sorry yeah umm what were we talking about, i was too distracted by your display pic

I think it's more done for the reason of not being able to squeeze turbos into crowded engine bays. STS Turbos in the US have gotten good results from remote mounted turbos on Mustangs, Camaros, Corvettes etc.

And I've actually heard from a friend who did that setup on his VS V8 commy that it can be beneficial as the air that passes through the turbo is alot cooler when it goes through since its got that extra distance to travel. Not too sure on the validity of this point but it kinda makes sense...

Boost control would also be a lot nicer with that gate setup, but you wouldn't have the extreme heat of the exhaust gasses aiding in turning the turbine I guess.. but on big v8s I really not see the long pipework being an issue.

Yeah its interesting I know a bloke doing an 32 Ford with an LS1 and twin GT35R's the turbos sit basically under the driver and passenger seats reckons it will chirp second too...

lol those "all the way to the back of the car" setups are the biggest load of crap, defeating the purpose of turbo charging a car.

How does it defeat the purpose? The car is still turbocharged...

Lol i leave for 1 day and get alot of responses. Dont worry i scrapped the idea and im now going with a

6boost Hi-Mount Mani, Garrett GT35R w/ .63housing as i hear its got good response (3000-3500 full bost) , Tial Wastegate (undecided Mm atm), and a flanged dump pipe for when i want some screamer action.

Btw, Ive concucted a flange to attack my Stock RB25 turbo to my ride on mower , ill be using a custom intercooler w/ no BoV, hopefully producing some mower dose action. I got the idea of a Youtube vid of a guy doin it, should be fun. I hope i dont blow up the engine as its gonna be 100% FF.

I actually did put an old stage 2 GCG highflow on a mangled trust manifold. I left it IW though.

I got the manifold cheap, i was swapping in the rb25 anyway so i thought it was worth a crack.

I had 1 bar by about 3k so i wouldn't say it was laggy. It was a beautiful thing to drive compared to the rb20 with the same turbo. I was still playing around with the emanage at that stage and made an easy 200 at 1bar with just the afm correction for a z32 and no other changes.

The manifold eventually cracked. I installed a hks low mount manifold and t300s, sold off the old bits, life went on....

So ultimately a waste of money but at the time i enjoyed playing and had plenty of spare cash so it didn't bother me.

from memory, anna (msnismo) has a .63 rear version and is on full boost a smidge before 4000. that's using cams and a fancy manifold.

from memory finelines setup is a .82 and on full boost between 3500 and 4000 on well built motor with cams and headwork doin 500rwhp (well it was before the JB clutch exploded)

Noel has a very nice head though :(

I do tend to agree as the .63 GT35 is a little silly for an RB25 get the .82 and take the little extra lag its well worth it. I wouldn't call a stock internal RB25 "Lagy" with a .82 either
