single knock

Hi peoples.

I have noticed this single knock noise coming from the top of my motor when I begin to rev it. By single knock I mean when I start to slightly rev the car there is one knock noise (pretty loud) and then no other knock if the revs are kept above idle. It only seems to do this when just beginning to rev the car above idle. Besides this the car runs fine.

It sounds like it is coming from under the black cover where the spark plugs are.

Anyone have any idea on what this might be? I want to resolve it as it might be causing engine damage. I have recently lost my licence so have some time to assess the problem without needing to drive the car and maybe damage something.

Hopefully by the time I get my license back I will have safc II and bleed valve and the car will feel twice as quick. YAY.

Mate last time you posted on here your compression was way down on 1 of your cyclinders wasnt it? I'd say its due to that and its farked.

Sounds to me like a death rattle eg: if its not dead yet, it will be soon.

If the engine was that phucked I'd expect a few more knocks.

Depends on what he means by "single knock". If its just one loud "thok thok thok" noise when he first raises the revs then it can be just as bad as many knocks

Lets just hope its just sometihng loose hitting a fan or something

by single knock i mean just that. there is only one (1) knock noise when initially raising revs and then sounds fine. If however i let the revs fall back to idle then raise them once more this single noise will repeat again.
