Went to Ryogoku yesterday to watch the last tournament in Tokyo for the year and what a ripper it was.

Asa Shoryu lost and when the Yokozuna went down everyone started pegging the cushions they were sitting on at the ring - a tradition whenever the underdog beats the Yokozuna.

Had some great seats and what was really awesome was how close you could get to the ring during the lesser graded bouts - so close Wrestlers were getting thrown out of the ring right in front of us.

If youve never been to a Sumo tournament, i highly recommend it - these blokes are massive larger than life hard core kunts, with calves the size of my thigh...

People all talk about top secret this and Nismo that and cheap parts etc etc, but this was something you wont forget.

The tournaments are held in Tokyo at the Ryogoku station, 5 minutes from Akihabara and tickets can be bought at Lawson convenience stores or even from the official website http://www.sumo.or.jp/eng/

Events are held in Tokyo during March, May and September but are also held in Osaka and f*kuoka among other places throughout the year.

Tickets can range from 5000 yen all the way up to 50,000 yen for ringside.

This was the view from the rafters on the second tier

Paintings coming to life. You feel so small next to these boys - they are massive.

The food that Sumo live off - Chanko...not to be confused with Chinko

Yeah went to the one in f*kuoka when I was studying there in 99...

shit eh, thats almost 10 years ago.

they're some big ass mother truckers...

its so funny seeing them riding around on their chari's (pushbikes) before the event!

yep, went to a huge tournament at ryogoku a few years back. it was one of the first things I wanted to do in japan.

I got "lost" though and "accidentaly" ended up in the go-man yen floor seats, ringside. now that was awesome. :)

Outside the ring where the sumo were walking around lots of people were asking for photos with the sumo. some girls would get photos taken sitting on their laps. so I did it too and have a funny pic of me on a giant sumo's lap. I then asked if he would sit on my lap for a photo. lol. he didn't know if I was serious or joking but eitherway he wasn't game to crush me!

there was a few hairbacked gaijin doing pretty well too. but it just doesn't look right... ugh.gif

I still have some cool little figurines and stuff that I bought there.

ps. how many times a day do you type 'mang'? trust me when I say it's not as cool or funny as you think. and with huge overuse becomes quite annoying... srsly mang.

    • I don't know. The main problem is that link is clearly at FB marketplace, and I have never willingly clicked a link that will take me to any Meta owned website. Even if it wasn't clear, I would hover over it to find out before clicking on it anyway, same as I do for all links everywhere. Just good internet hygiene + refusal to participate in the lizard man's empire. But, you will need to deal with the inevitable HICAS light that will come up if you stop the steering angle sensor from working. On an R32, this is as simple as unplugging the smaller of the two loom plugs in the back of the HICAS CU. I don't know if this works on later HICASs.
    • Ive got a hicas lock bar, so thats effectivley disables it.  I found this wheel on market place, looks to be in pretty good condition, would it just bolt straight in? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1218520015890587
    • I'll be getting a timing light this weekend and also checking for spark. I was trying to avoid having to take all the Y piping things from the upper intake off again but I guess I have no choice lol
    • Because the drive dog for the steeering angle sensor is present on wheels that came in HICAS cars and not present on wheels that came on non-HICAS cars. Not that I would let that bother me, because HICAS is trash and any excuse to get rid of it is a good excuse.
    • My plan is to replace both Shift Solenoids A and B, and good idea on the Torque Convertor Solenoid as well.
