hey how much does it cost to freight stuff over from japan by

- air

- sea

is there any guarantee that the stuff will get here if it is put onto a boat? i mean, our goods are not subject to rape and torture by wharfies (like our poor cars are on the docks when they first arrive) right?

My question is sorta OT, sorta not.

I'm planning on going over for a year, maybe 2 to work when I'm done with my English/Education degree. Girlfriend and I are planning on buying a car each. What I am wondering is, is it possible to fill your car up with bits and pieces? Like buy a R32 GT-R, and chuck a turbo kit, some seats, coilovers, spare rims, R34 six speed, R33 brembos, bits and pieces inside? All wrapped up to keep it nice and clean of course. Will you get taxed on all that stuff thats in the car? E.g if its for my own spare parts on my personal import car?

I wouldn't want to have it all stolen when I get back either. I'd like to buy something and bring it home to do the modding myself. Plan to get a R32 and a JZA80 supra.

cheers,

floody

floody,

I think if you check with Customs on this but I have done quite a few trips o/s and in all the info that I have read it states that if you are out of the country for longer than a certain period of time, (used to be twelve months) no duty was payable if you could prove ownership of the goods for that period. However as I said, check with Customs I'm sure that they will give you the correct information.

Cheers
