Custom Helmets

Who around here has a customised helmet design (paintwork i mean), how did you do it? What did you use?

My new one arrived today, so now i get to figure out how and what to paint it with.

You have to be extremely careful painting helmets as some of the chemicals used in the paint can breakdown the helmet material. This in turn voids the helmet for use in all forms of motorsport.

Take it to a professional who specializes in helmet painting...I'm sure a bike shop or similar will be able to point you in the right direction.

Same goes for adding stickers, so be careful doing that too

I have had in mind for a long time two helmet designs. Only I want to spend about $450-650 on the helmet and from the quotes i have seen the painting will cost me about $1000-1200. If someone knows a cheaper yet good place to do paiting...i am all ears

Also, any damage done to the standards stickers on the helmets renders the helmets unusable as well.

A client of mine paints Marcus Ambrose's and alot of V8 supercar drivers helmets, I asked him what I would be looking at to get mine done and it was around $1600, however if I left it with him for a few months it would be about $800. I think ill live with a few marks for the time being.

Yep, just remembered he did your car! Said he doesn't love doing helmets that much anymore, I guess its a right pain in the arsehole when you could be doing vinal stickers on computer.
