hey all,

quick one hopefully. i live in the city and need a new front bar fitted.

i dont know any decent places to get work done in the city or even close to it.. so the only way i can see getting around this dillema is by taking off the bar (as its not drivable the way it is) and taping the headlights etc in place and driving that way... or get towed which would be a fortune id imagine.

so my question is i guess.. does anyone know the laws around driving with no front bar? should i get a letter of intent from the RTA for the date i book in to get the work done?

cheers and thanks in advance

Johno

edit: not sure if this is in the right section.. apologise if it isnt

sydney central panel beaters are in redfern, regent street. I've been there quite a few times now (my RX7 is there right now). maybe give them a buzz.

Quite often, Towies and Panel Workshops owe each other favours anyway.

So if you know which place you're taking your car, the workshop is more than likely to tow it there for free, (if the RTA says NO or if your insurance co. won't cover you even for that short distance).

your what?

Chook cooker, Rice Grinder or Whipper-snipper. Take your pick.

Re: Front Bar

I drove around for 3 weeks without a front or rear bar and didn't get pinged however I only drove to and from work and also avoided built up areas with lots of traffic. Might be a different story for you being in Sydney but all I can say is if you hit something or someone you're well f*cked because i'd imagine it voids your insurance.
