correct...the more power a car generates the more a drivetrain is stressed and the losses i.e. heat is generated.

where was a 500hp drivetrain loss mentioned in anything but your own post?

im not getting all "bent up about it" just can't get my head around 1000cc injectors making 1200hp on Sunoco...thats all. If something clearly doesn't add up to me i ask the question...is that ok?...Just because i didn't line up with the back slappers on the first 3 pages doesn't mean im not impressed...around 800hp is what i estimate the car will roll at Autosalon. Please prove me wrong.

If you kept losing 20% through the drivetrain you would never be able to make power.

Guy A makes 2000hp through his RB25 drivetrain to the wheels. That would mean if there was a 20% loss that his engine is making 2400hp.

Guy B makes 300hp, same drivetrain. He loses 60hp.

Heat does not cause the loss of a further 340hp for Guy A. And by your theory, Guy A would make 2340hp at the wheels until his drivetrain heats up, then it's back down to 2000hp for him.

1000cc injectors should be capable of exactly 1200 engine hp. Considering he would only be making 1100-1150 engine hp...it's high but not impossible.

The torque scale has been zoomed in on a bit which will fudge the relative drop a bit, if the numbers on the Y axis started at 0 then it'd probably look markedly flatter. The Dynapack software focusses the chart on the range of lowest to highest read value for torque and power to allow far closer analysis of the data provided, but invariably makes torque and power curves look more violent than they really are.

1000cc injectors should be capable of exactly 1200 engine hp. Considering he would only be making 1100-1150 engine hp...it's high but not impossible.

It all comes down to the fuel being used, the fuel pressure setting and the air:fuel ratio. It is impossible to make blanket statements like the one above.

Think about it for a minute. What power would those injectors support at 60psi base fuel pressure but running Methanol? How about oxygenated leaded race fuel? PULP?

It might be a good general guide to say that 1000cc injectors could support 1000 engine horsepower at 45psi base pressure and 12.5:1 but to make claims about any particular setup's capabilities without knowing the fuel type used, the pressure, the air:fuel's and the injector size is foolhardy at best.

Here we know that it was running 1000cc injectors, I've had a 'stab' that it's running Sunoco MaxNOS (as it's the new hotness;)) but we don't know the fuel pressure the reg was set to or the AFR's tuned to. Let's say 13:1 and 65-70psi should be enough.

Possible but more likely that the 1002hp is a great indication of flywheel horsepower.

The terminal speed on the timeslip (if this car ever makes a full noise pass down the quarter) and the race weight of the car will give a better, more 'real-world' comparison and idea of the power the thing is making.

straight percentage loss again..... if a 2kw heater can heat up my bedroom by 10 degrees in 10 minutes, then in theory an 800rwkw car losing 20% through the drive line would be dumping near enough to 160kw in heat at the point of peak power (you don't lose energy, it must go somewhere, in this case heat and noise). The cabin would be pretty unbearable to be in after a couple of pulls on the dyno don't you think? The gearbox and diff would be glowing....

After an hour the whole workshop would be on fire :)

u must be on drugs... never be able to make power?? u will always be able to make power.

Cars run on a loss, but make power.. the only time u wont make power is when ur drivetrain loss is 100%

which will never happen.. unless it breaks.. :)

oh and btw, Dirt nor i said its a Fixed percentage loss... :D

This car almost makes more power (30hp less) than John's RH9 GTR built by Croydon racing that runs bigger injectors, the same turbo with a larger rear housing, more boost and a two stage NOS system (fogger and direct port) That won the power championship at Autosalon final battle last year.

Truely an achievement considering the years of development and $$ poured into that car.

Wow this thread got extremely heated over the last day! The % loss drivetrain issue over a fixed amount has been debated to death! Keep it on topic, i don't want to see this thread locked :dry:

cheers i reckon i will see the 22cm come in sooner or later, but yeah it seems everyone is a critic and quick to judge... kinda kills the fun outta playing with cars... as for the injectors it turns out they were most likely indy blues... but hey i have already been shot for guessing they were blitz 1000cc (also blue in color) .... them the brakes.

    • I replaced the whole clutch line with the chase bays braided hose, I think it removes that loop, is it the short hose that comes immediately off the slave or is there a drawing in the manual to find what you’re referring to? It was just re-bled when I upgraded to the nismo slave, old slave worked fine but I thought that might help, didn’t change a thing. It’s like the first half of the pedal is pushing air and then when it finally actuates the master the friction zone is tiny. Makes it practically impossible to launch the car
    • Yep, that was one of the things we learned fast in the past with our MX5. When you drive with the top down, you are effectively standing out in the sun, 100% of the time, and not getting in any shade (because roads aren't shaded generally!). Just like standing out in the middle of a field on a sunny 27C day is a bit of a bad plan, so is sitting in a MX5 without sun protection.
    • I also just ordered some Frankenstein bolts and side mounts to fit a hard top Just in case I do find one, basically so it doesn't need to be fixed to the car with only the front latch.......and then gaffa tape to keep it in place for the RTN journey from wherever I get it
    • If your temps are fine now, you probably won't have any issues with where your vents are as they don't look right up at the windscreens high pressure area, so any differences when giving it the beans for extended happy laps would be minimal, but, they should vent heaps when stuck in traffic  Much like how that reverse cowl on my SS let "visible" heat out when stationary, but, because it was basically at the windscreen my coolant temps on the Hwy actually raised because air was being fed into it at speed (110kph), to only come back down to around 90° when I got off the Hwy And your 100% correct about the NC currently not needing vents, but, if I was to add a turbo, and a oil cooler and intercooler in front of the condenserand radiator, and then take it to the track???? It is apparently a recommend requirement if I don't want to worry about coolant or oil temp issues, but, any of the above are possible scenarios, over time As it sits now, with the triple pass radiator and stock air conditioning system, I have absolutely no issues with either temps or air conditioning efficiency, I've been basically daily driving thie car for the last month, both on the Hwy, and peak hour, bumper to bumper traffic, but, that's pretty much expected from basically a standard engine  Talking about no issues daily driving, it was 39° the other day and I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on the M5 and then M7, with the top down, and with the air conditioning blowing nice cold air on my feet, balls, and face, well, there was one issue, my head and arms got pretty sun burnt Note to self: leave a hat and sunscreen in the car for such days 🤣
    • I would agree, unless you need something specific to the HV motor/battery side repaired or investigated, any mechanic will be able to perform normal services, but if you prefer, maybe look for a mechanic who regularly services/repairs Nissans, the VQ engines are pretty common in the Nissan lineup.  Sorry, I can't make any suggestions, I don't live in Vic.
