Having seen what drag radials do on dyno rollers, I'd be kicking the owner in the arse for not swapping them for something hard and shitty.

i figured he knew about semis and dynos... but looking at the rear gaurds (painted rubber black) it would have been fun to watch

im sure we will see it at the track as his last venture out with red one ended with him having to fit a chute (also on display at MAS).

And maybe Autosalon should notify all competitors on what ramp rate they're going to use so everyone can tune their car accordingly. What a load of crap. Take it to the track where the true results are revealed.

couldn't have put it better myself Jack. Ive never heard Jim Souvas, Joe Signorelli or Mark Jacobsen say that they have to tune to the ramp rate for Autosalon..."what a load of crap"...is an excellent choice of words...well done.

it made almost 50kw less than my pissy little low mounts that "wasnt tuned to suit the ramp rate"

I didn't realise the owner of this car had anything to prove to any of you. Mistakes were made, it doesn't make the car any less impressive. Sure there was a bit of a hype but it's not the end of the world. He doesn't have to wait until Autosalon 2009 to prove himself again. I challenge any of you to pay for some power runs on a dyno, go watch it in the flesh. Or pay him to come up and put it on one of your dynos if it's that important to you.

Who gives a shit if the whole dyno art means you need certain tyres or tuning for ramp rates to get a number. It got a big number with the tyres and tune it runs on the street!

Trent how much tractive effort did it pull on the AUtoSalon dyno? Was it being run in 4th or 3rd? We have a few XR6T's putting out around 500rwkw DD in 5th gear that are pulling over 11000N of tractive effort and I can absolutely agree with you that soft compound tyres will rob the horsepower figure masively.

Hey for all the DiRT haters...here's a few home truths.

Ive got nothing against Trent and his workshop...Ive actually been talking to him via PM to obtain parts for his business he's having trouble getting access to.

I was the only one with enough intelligence to pick up a glaring annomily in the spec's and results after 3 pages of back slapping. Unfortunately i didn't have enough intelligence to keep it to myself, have a little giggle and move on.

I was not the one to post the quote above about Autosalon...It was actually Trent.

Everyone was comparing this result against regular dyno results obtained from a Mainline unit and/or a DD unit in shootout mode. Ive spent time with Andre Simon at his Wellington business (he tunes the Heat Treatments GTR) and he assures me they read more like engine horsepower not wheel horsepower.

Contrary to popular belief i don't own or run a workshop...i build engines as a sideline venture and charge sometimes up to 1/2 the cost of other workshops. It allows me a little extra cash to keep "twoogle" racing...nothing more, the car would still be up for sale if this wasn't the case. I am actually an electrical engineer by day employed by one of Australia's largest and most profitable companies, but have been building engines and cars for the last 18 years.

If a supplier gave you false advertising information about products or services they supply (whether it be intentional or not) would you not be upset you were convinced by it?

Their is nothing ive said in this thread that in anyway breaks this forum's rules.

Im not trying to bring anyone down here but the head in the sand additude of some people is a little offputting. What would the world be like if the status quo was never questioned??

At the end of the day its what we do.. take the PISS.... These guys live and work in workshops all the time and if you have spent a bit of time in one or a few you will realise that the best way to keep your sanity is to take the piss out of anyone who moves farts looks or walks in the wrong direction.
