Im almost off my L-Plates and Ive been driving around my Dad's R33 GTST as on my L's im allowed to with parents in car.

However when Dad bought the car I payed for it because it is gonna be mine, but this was before i read up on P-Plate restrictions. I read about Special Exemptions that allow for permission to drive the car if it is passed down by a Family Member.

If anyone has info on this or has done it could you pls post here as I will miss driving it for the duration of my P's.

you gotta check with the rta for this,

my wife can drive my car cause it's the only car in our names(not that i'd let her drive it anyway).

i heard from some people that if you own the car before you get your p's or l's you can drive it but it has to be in your name. not 100% about it though

i never had to look into this because i got my p's before the laws came out, but from friends of mine that have told me alittle about it what i gatherd is you can get an exemption if its the only car your family has and its not practical to buy another car,

if you have a legit reason for having to drive it on the street (cant think of an example lol)

and i think there is a way to get an exemption after you get onto your green p's if you have not lost any demerit points in the first year of driving and not had any accidents, but if you are on p's and have an accident in the car or get caught speeding in it you loose the exemption untill you get off your p's.....

im not 100% sure because i wasnt the one who researched the topic, ask RTA

1) If you get that exemption, I'd get it in writing and carry it with you in the car

2) I'd then check with the comprehensive insurance co. to confirm that your car is covered along with that exemption.

3) I'd then inform the CTP co. that you are under 25/30 and that your premium is adjusted

Possible #4) If the car has mods (depending on what they are), I'd get an engineer's certificate and carry that around on you too

Then you are ready to meet the Police.

Have fun mixed with safety :P
