having an agruement with a guy from work atm as he thinks there is a wrx non turbo?

i have never heard of such a car exist it is either a non turbo rx or the turboed wrx and sti.

i have searched the net only to find another forum with one guy saying there is no such thing either i need a clear answer to tell this guy that he is blowing smoke out of his ass hole.

essentially i thought that engine were similar with some different internal components, bonnet scoop, different front bar different interior etc but as far as a non turbo WRX which he claims his mate has one i dont believe it.

WOW i said someone was sad enough to buy wrx badges and fit them.

unless someone went to the trouble of buying a wrx with turbo and then taking it off and pluming up all the lines back to the block and coolant. he still says no its definetely a factory badged non turbo wrx.

could i get a list of peoples answers so i can print it out and take it to work cos i work with a bunch of commo drivers at work who think jap cars are like rabbits and shouldnt be in the country cos they won bathurst in the early 90's, who no nothing about jap cars but just tell me to leave him alone and that he must no wat he is talking about.

probably should have but it was a spur of the moment idea when i was on here none the less keep them comments flowing:):P and if there is such a thing out of the factory i would love to hear about it

In the USA they originally bought out a WRX which had a 2.5litre engine but no turbo.

They have only just bought out the turbo WRX with the 2 litre engine

google it, its on the net somewhere

mate i work for subaru and i can tell you there is no such thing as a non turbo wrx from factory.

his mate has prolli got an RS-X. which is just an RS impreza. these had a 2.5 litre N/A engine, with interior the same as the wrx. subaru australia took 400 of these and made the limited edition RS-X, which got wrx wheels, rear muffler (twin pipe) and stickers. so basicly at a glance it looks just like a rexy without the bonnet scoop.

does this help?

hahahah lol his mum is the secretary at our work so i guess the opportunity is there bud lol.

best answer so far.

Do your mates mum and then tell him you did his mum. Will completely make him forget about the wrx topic....

As said above, non turbo's are Impreza's.

+1...matty's hit the nail on the head with that one

Roshambo your mate.

problem solved.

:P

I think there is a non turbo version just , the subaru impreza 2.0L. Personally if you needed a non turbo just head for a Skyline GTS RB25DE because standard WRX turbo models put out roughly 230Hp , and im not saying they dont go hard but a non turbo impreza would probably give out about 160hp topps. hence Skyline GTS 190hp but its up to you. Good luck in finding one =]

    • The new project has arrived. I have wanted one of these for such a long time, well before that meathead Clarkson drove one in Africa. I really wanted an E34 but I have some medical issues that mean I *really* can't bump my head and the lack of airbags in the E34 made it just too big of a risk.  I don't know why I've always liked these older touring BMW's to be honest, but man I love this car. She's been pretty well maintained for her 243k's with what appears to be only a single oil leak at the oil filter housing gasket. It has a bunch of updates including later model bumper and headlights, 7 series billion-way adjustable seats and it came with a few spares and another set of wheels with legal tyres. I got a unregistered car permit from the RTA and drove it back from Canberra on Saturday.                   First cab off the rank is cleaning it up for blue slip. I dont know how picky they'll be but I figured I'd clean the headlights, fix the oil filter housing gasket, replace the speed sensors (throwing errors) and swap the OE wheels (the M Sport wheels have a big chunk out of one of the tyres.) I also need to replace all 6 gas struts - 2 for bonnet, 2 for hatch and 2 for hatch glass. The car tries to eat me whenever i open any of these. My plan for this car; Ultimately, this is a budget car. I can't afford to throw lots at it and its because I have another car that I got this, if something breaks its no big deal. I will just maintain and repair it really. But eventually I want to do a manual conversion. It actually looks pretty straight forward for E39's and the trickiest part will be sourcing the parts.  I do need to replace some suspension arms or bushes because wow, she's a floaty old girl. She's also fantastically slow. Like really, really slow. When pulling back out on to the freeway on Sat after a quick pull over I needed to wait until no cars were visible before going.  Oh, and the guy I bought it from had a gorgeous R31 GTS-X in the garage.
    • Do you have a picture? I assume it is a breather for gearbox oil as it expands, it should have a vacuum line run nice and high in the engine bay (R32 GTR has it on a top bellhousing bolt)
    • Hi all, I am putting an r33 gtst gearbox into a VL and have noticed what looks like a vacuum barb on the box (on top in the middle). Suspecting that it's a vacuum line but I'd like to double check, if someone could confirm the function of that would be great. Cheers in advance.
    • I’d love to find some where that can recover the dashes to look brand new and original. Mine has a very slight bubble, nothing compared to some I’ve seen though
    • $170K. I asked one of the guys there as a joke if that price was just for the passenger seat as it was where the price sheet was... he tried really hard to crack a smile 😄 He also mentioned that every single part of the car was inspected and either restored or replaced with a new or as new part, or made from scratch. The interior was incredible, every inch like a new car.
