Bl4cK32, I intend sending it back to them. If they dont want to refund, then I will take it further for the reasons you stated. Still an expensive lesson, as I have to pay to get the new plenum fitted and get all the pipework re-plumbed.

B-man, no worries, I spoke to them directly and went by what they told me, then made my own decisions. I think that as long as you right a factual account of your dealings, make it factual and verifyable, not emotive or based on feelings and you can say what you want.

Lesson to be learnt - buy a tried and tested product, that way you wont get any suprises.

I am getting a trust plenum. They fit straight up, everything attaches, and there are 100s if not thousands of satisfied customers using them already.

I used to be a big believer that australian made products will perform as well as japanese, and where possible use them.

From now on, I only buy Japanese made performance parts.

I think it's common that most people hate the job does not do right at first time/place, and end up spending more, and that's why I have planed my path and try to have it done right at first place, although still have some drama, but all fixed.

From what I can feel is that most after market product hard to get spec sheet because of intelliture (spell?) property, therefore I would only consider choose the product has fair market share or see by my own eyes.

Yeah, I couldn't wait, so I now have a huge throttle body, but it work so I'm happy:D

BTW, does anyone know where I can get the Greddy badge for the plenum, my box didn't have one, even though the instructions say it should be part of the pack:(

You would think so - but I think I know what would happen. I'd post the facts, people would then offer their opinions (which is fine) - then it would get a bit ugly, then the thread would be moved to the mods section.

There was another bloke on the forums that wrote a "Complaint about Hills Motorpsort" thread recently. Seemed like the facts were stated in that thread - I can't seem to find that thread anymore - I think it has been moved to the mods section as I am still subscribed to it and when ever a mod posts in the thread, I get an e-mail ????

sidewaymambo, now worries, all good info:) I like your choice of BOV too;)

B-man, it is a fine line, so fair enough if you are not sure if you are crossing it. I didnt see the thread you are talking about.

Recently we had a thread in the SA section that a business got upset about, so the mod just edited any bits that crossed the line. Sometimes people have trouble being objective, which is human, but can leave forums like this without much choice but to start editing.

As you stated earlier, I just hope that others may learn lessons from the experiences outlined here, and take any necessary steps to avoid costly hassels themselves.

I posted the thread complaining about hills, in particular about my experience when having my water pump/gearbox oil/timing belt done.

I dont want to get your thread in trouble by posting my personal views about what happened...as my thread has definitely disappeared without notice.

The fact is, they didnt do what they said they would, for the price they said they would charge.

Plus i just want to state another fact that seems a little strange to me:

They accept cash only.

I hope others learn from our mistakes....

siksII,

Thanks for not getting the thread in the shit:)

Its a very fine line between objective and factual and slanderous unfortuneately, so easy to cross - esp when you are pissed off.

Perhaps you could contact consumer affairs? If people have justified claims to make.

This attemp of mine to use 'aussie knowhow' has cost me alot, freighting back, adapting throttle body, getting vacuum blocks made, getting pipework made - which will now need to be redone when I replace the plenum with one that works - hundreds of dollars done the drain.

I will be seeking reimbursement of costs, based on what was supposed to be delivered was not.

I hope it gets sorted out quickly, but this could take many months unfortuneately, as the first time the plenum came out and didnt fit up to the supplied throttle body I asked for a refund (I was pretty annoyed that after having my money for a few months, they couldnt get it right the first time) but it was like getting blood out of a stone.

Anyway, I hope you sort out the dramas you have, if you are still not happy with the outcome, speak to consumer affairs or similar - that is what they are there for.

Also, check around, there are some lawers that will allow you a free initial consult, and if the case is cut and dried, will just take their fee if you win, ie the other person ends up paying;)

well since it was over $550 and they did basically do the basic thing i wanted in the end (replace my water pump) i wont bother. If i was in your place, things would be very different! Good luck, i really hope hills experiences more grief than you did, and learns from it.

FFS, what is all this bitching and threatening about what you're going to do to Mark/Hills Motorsports if you haven't even SPOKEN TO MARK YET?!

If you speak to him and he tells you to **** off THEN come back and bitch and I will agree it is justifiable and I daresay Hills will lose my business as well. But until that happens a lot of you are just talking bollocks for no reason. Do you think maybe that's why the other thread was removed?

Dean, thanks for your support mate, hopefully I can get a happy outcome without going down that path:D (dont really need a holiday at govt expense;))

sidewaymambo, I wont know until I have the other plenum on. Or at least the current one off and sent to Hills. I would never expect someone (Hills) to just turn around and volunteer a refund until they could see the plenum and see what is wrong. They run a business so cant just go around giving people their money back without a good reason.

the car is in getting a rear bar done, I had it booked in so just got it towed there. Once that is done, I will be organising the removal of the plenum to be forwarded. I still havent got a trust plenum to go on yet, but once it does I will have an idea of additional costs to fit it. Then it is time to talk to Hills.

I believe that you have to give people the opportunity to do the right thing. If there is a disagreement, let the legal system sort it out that is what its there for, and I happen to have the free services of an excellent lawyer (contact can be handy:))

that is why I wanted to keep this thread objective as possible.

Hoping it wont come to that.

Kit-01J, you may know mark, but you dont know Enrico or myself, lets keep away from school yard antics, its just not necessary. Otherwise this will just deteriorate into a slagging match and this thread it merely to make people aware of my, and anybody elses experiences. If you have something positive to add, please do.

JimX, I realise that you have dealt a bit with hills, but getting angry on here probably wont get positive results.

That said, I agree with the vain of your post, but if you get emotive, doesnt that put you in the same league as those you are pointing your finger at???

this thread is here as a heads up for others that may find themselves in a similar situation as mine - meant purely so that people can make informed decisions

Once again, if anybody has good experiences with Hills, let em post up and we can look at the whole rather than 1 part.:P

Peace dudes.

    • Hey @Butters, did you end up getting this clutch in ? I have just ordered to a uniclutch track to go in my getrag 6 speed that’s in my BNR 32
    • I know you don't want to hear this comment, but I can't not say it.  I just can't see 200kw being worth the time and effort. Its like guys with NA cars, putting in headers/exhaust/tune for a massive 20% jump in power. Great, the slow car is still slow and you're down $10,000.  My vote is leave it NA or price in a gearbox upgrade and shoot for at least 300KW, preferably 350KW+.  Now you have a NC that will try to kill you from time to time and will be exciting to drive
    • Ah yep. The main message I want to pass on is, try not to get scared of ghosts when thinking about knock/knock detection.  What I mean is, healthy engines make noise. Knock is also noise. Your knock sensor and ECU combo are trying to determine bad noise from good noise based on how loud the noise is. The factory knock sensors and ECU are not good at doing this.  Modern ECU's are pretty decent at it, however I'd still say that you would want to verify that if your ECU says it's knock, that you actually listen to it and confirm that it is correct.  Are you familiar with the plex knock monitor?  https://www.plex-tuning.com/products/plex-knock-monitor-v3/ I expect you're the type of person that would be very keen to play with something like this. It is great knock detection and you can pop some headphones on and listen to what's going on.  Knock that you've deliberately induced in low load low RPM areas is not really putting anything at risk and is a great tuning/learning/verification tool.  I just thought this was worth mentioning based on the way you were talking about setting up a base map and the Haltech base map settings. There are better ways to spend your time then chasing ghosts and worrying about detonation in scenarios that it is crazy unlikely to encounter it.  I was also wondering, what ECU are you planning to get? Will it be long til you pick it up?
    • This came quicker than I thought. It ain't even 2025 yet.
    • I somehow quoted my post instead of editing it. I regret nothing.
