it would have been a lot easier to check when the motor was out of the car. If u take off the timing belt cover, you will be able to check the condition of the belt. If its an aftermarket belt ie Gates or delco, you should be able to clearly see the logo stamped onto the belt if its a fairly new belt.

The prudent thing to do in a car which has a questionable service history is to bite the bullet and change them! I had a friend who took the previous owners word regarding servicing, in particular the timing belt, and he ended up with a busted engine from a stuffed timing belt.... Cheaper to change the belt than the engine!

right with that one mate:)

iv just replaced the belt on my 33, and its not a hard job to do just fiddly

if your taking the timing cover off, for the sake of $70 i would bite the bullet and replace the belt. At least u have to peace of mind that you know its been done.

of u can do it yourself it makes it easy:)
