After having some oil sitting from the lower cooler piping, and having cleaned that up, it starts coming from the top return piping, I'm pretty sure my stock turbo is on it's way out.

Just wondering where, and roughlyyy how much rebuilding the stock turbo will cost. And how long does it take someone to do it, just so I have an idea to workout transport etc.

I'm not after an aftermarket turbo or more power, since I'm saving for my new toy and this car is most likely being sold to my friends mum next year (seriously), I just want to know what's the better way to go about it stock turbo-wise. Upon saying that, I MAY look into the aftermarket turbo scenario if the rebuilding is going to cost over $1,000.

I'll probably only get it done mid-november when I'm back but I want to get the budget sorted. Any help? Cheers. ;)

you are definitely looking over the 1.2k mark for a rebuild. You can ask performanz, i think they redid my turbos last time. The labour is usually about half of it and the other half going towards rebuilding. 2nd hand at this point if your plans are to sell is my opinion. As rev210 said you can probably get a 2nd hand one and put it on yourself which will save you alot.

i looked into this jut recently as my turbo popped and went to heaven

its not worth rebuilding, it will cost over 1k and you can buy the same thing second hand for wayyyy cheaper

i have decided to go the upgrade as i want more power :D

but dont get it rebuilt or upgrade if you plan on selling soon as the turbo kit im getting is over $2500

turbos are not cheap ;)

Oh ok. thanks for the info guys. hehe yeah Karl, I just spent over $3,000 on the WedsSport wheels and new rubbers that are being shipped atm, although it's only going to be on it with me for about 5 months-ish.. well that's the plan. Then I might buy another set with bigger offset for the new beast. ;)

So yeh looks like 2nd hand stock turb is the go.. next question... how will I know if I'm being sold an r33 rb25 or r34 rb25 turbo? is the size any different/markings etc? Obviously I don't want to downgrade..
