I find it amazing how all of you know your doing the wrong thing when you get fined for speeding but your also the first to complain, camera's are not going any where (signed or otherwise) so get use to it, either dont speed or live with it, stop being a little bitch and having a whinge because you got caught doing something you know you should not have been doing.

im with brett on that one. thread poster was curious about the rules down here. as far as i know we dont need sign's on random camera's. but this is were i like my speedo . if im doing 80kph on the dash. but really im doing 74-75 . so if i get a flash im obviously doing the wrong thing

you make a good point worp3d

my gripe is that there not playing ball by hiding the sign ......

I live in melbourne, down here they dont need signs and the vehicles i have seen them use include vans, triton's, magna's, camry's, rav4's and not to mention commodores and falcons, they are all different, the only thing they have in common is the have dark tinted windows and a nudge bar, they dont even use a flash box during the day any more, all they have is a box mounted to the nudge bar(i have also seen them mounted into the gap in the front bar so there is noting out the front) and the set up on the dash (which is hard to see due to the tinted windows), we also have speed camera's incorporated into our red light camera's so here in vic if you speed its not a matter of IF you get caught, it's a matter of WHEN you get caught, and if you are in a performance import with the usual atmo bov, big wheels, lowered and pod and get pulled over by the tmu then the speeding fine is the least of your problems.

And with the amount of people who have a gps these days using the excuse that "my speedo is out and i didnt know" does not cut it, if you dont have one someone you know does and it only takes 5 minutes on the freeway to see how much it is out by.

I know I was going to get flamed for this post and looking back on it I admit I was over reacting when I created this thread, but the way you make it sound as if you have never sped. Look I know the 5-0 are just trying to do their jobs and I respect that but what is the use of putting a camera in a back road where there was a tram stop in the middle of the road and cars on the other side? If I was behaving like an idiot and rice burning around then I know I would have deserved it and wouldn't have even started this thread. Worp you make it sound like your mister perfect, well if the system is so fair then why is it that if your are 1 yes ONE kph over the limit (yes none of us has ever heard of anyone getting booked for 1 but there is no law saying they cant) however Australia automotive laws allow for manufactures to have a 10% error on the speedometers and just incase the math is to hard for you 10% of 60 is 6 so by law car manufactures are allowed to have an error +/- 6 (at 60) but if your over by 1 your can potentially cop a fine? Would you like to explain that one to me hot shot?

You know you were speeding, you're going to cop a fine. End of story. Mobile speed cameras have never been marked down here.

Thank you lama I've figured that one out from previous posts :), look I have nothing against you guys I mean so far everyone have met on these forums, through track days, meetings are all great people I'm sorry for al the commotion this has cause but I just wanted to vent for a bit, I mean think of when you guys got your first ticket and you wernt driving irrationaly, you were just late and you someone happy. Yes, I made a mistake for speeding, I acknoledge that but can we just get passed this "Your an idot, you were speeding suck it up bitch" non-sense? I feel like i'm in sophomore year again like come on.

I was more having a go at other ppl whinging that they got done speeding, you initial question is a relevant one for some one who is use to things being done differently, as for the 10% thing, there was a huge up roar over it when they changed the law a few years ago but more and more victoria is becoming a police state, the system is not fair and as long as the government are making so much money from it then it never will be fair.

mister perfect? me? i have lost 13 points and am currently on the 12 month 1 point probation and my points record is 3 pages long, im far from mister perfect, but you will never find me on here whinging that i just got done, i know i speed, i know i could get caught and i know if i do its my fault, other victorians know how bad it is here (as you have now learnt the hard way) and if they get done for speeding they should shut the f**k up and accept it or just dont speed, your choice.

Brett, as someone who drives at safe speeds, I think I can safely say that most motorists should be entitled to a piss & moan about speed limits.

I mean really, how is it fair that on a straight stretch of road near me, 2 lanes each way, can the speed limit vary from 100 to 80 to 100 to 780 and to 100 again? There are no houses situated on this road and it is a pretty smooth road (for Australian roads). Or how about this? A dirt road has a limit of 100kph, but as soon as that road is sealed, the limit drops to a maximum of 80kph (or 70kph as was the instance with North rd in Langwarrin)?

Princes Hwy in Pakenham is another. It was a 90kph zone until they decided to put an unmarked camera there... 2 days after installing a variable speed limit dependant on time of day. It can be 80kph, 70kph... Even down to 50kph! This is a dual lane Hwy!! Yes there is a school nearby, which is fine if the lower limits were ONLY enforced at school pickup and drop off times...

Speed limits in Victoria are a rort.

How can the same 80 zone be deemed a safe speed for an 18 wheeler as it is for a lotus?

:)

:)

..... rant over .....

I know what your saying but for most ppl they know there speeding so i dont think they have a right to whinge about it, there are some exceptions of course.

As a truck driver my self it is my responsibility to drive to the conditions not the limit (as you learn in training, limits are made for cars not trucks), that is not to say that i can speed when ever i like, actually most of the time i reduce my speed for rough roads or when dick head car drivers are doing stupid shit in front of me.

I have never been fined for speeding in a truck, only in a car.

Dude EVERYBODY has the right to whinge about it, your entitled to your opinion just like we are entitled to ours plus this is a discussion forum it's what we do, we talk about what ever is on our minds and we respect what others have to say about them

*sigh*

Can't believe my first speeding ticket was in a Mirage.....

I like the way Sydney and Brisbane give you a bit of a chance by signing there prescence with a small A-frame, plus the vehicle are stickered with Police.

Although I saw the dodgiest mofo's in Kelvin Grove (opp. QUT) in Brisbane. Was a Police Landcruiser 8 seater on the roadside, but the A-frame was 1m in front of and 1m the the left of the front passenger-side headlight. Totally impossible to see it until it's too late. The law must just say the sign must be outside the vehicle.
