hey guys my car is f*cked, i cant reverse

im guessing its the gear box

all the other gears are fine though

could it be anything else other then the gear box?

is there anything i can do without replacing the gear box to make this better

ur help would be greatly appreciated

oh yeah forgot to tell u guys

when i put it into reverse and i let go of clutch

it pops back out

and if i force it there it crunches and grinds realli badly

do u know if i can just replace the synchros instead of changing the whole box?

dont know much about boxes.. but i know there is a bit of $$ involved in getting them rebuilt.. but then at least u know u have a good box.

2nd hand boxes are pretty cheap, but then u could buy another dud.

Best bet is to take it to a workshop that knows what they r doing.. never heard of this prob before so u might not get much info from here.

maybe try Maikong in Cabramatta... i think their pretty reputable....

I doubt that the box needs to be rebuilt. Sounds like the front sprocket on the reverse gear is not holding the gear in place. They may be able to simply replace it without doing much else to the box.

either way it sounds like the box definitely needs to be pulled out and opened up. i think u will spend more cash on labour then parts. i kno 2nd boxes are about $500

if u do open it up then might be worthwhile to check the sychroz aswell.

fly-sky - did you do any burnouts on the reverse gear? because i heard that the reverse gear is the weakest. ive actually witnessed some of my friends do this and doesnt seem to be good for the car. =)
