Planning An Epic Road Trip Syd > Tas!

Recommended Posts

Black Spur is a good drive, but can get some traffic.

A quiter road and IMO a way better/tighter run is The Reefton run. Called Reefton-something Rd and runs to Warburton.

I usually go from Healesville -> Warburton, starting with the Black Spur. :P

Be careful, coz a mate had a VERY close call with a side mirror and tyre (on full lock) just grazing a massive tree and a reflector post. See piccy attached.

Maybe if he took the bag off his head he would have seen it coming :)

LOL. I knew some wise arse would say something like that.

I was just protecting the identity of the (not so) innocent. I told him to buy a Tatts ticket when we got to Warburton.

Here was the only damage... incredibly... white paint from grazing a reflector post.

Anyway, point is that if you're not a n00b behind the wheel, Reefton is prob the best, most technical mountainous drive I have done. Just respect it and be mindful of others coming from the other direction.

Vic roads are nothing too special, Great Ocean road blah blah blah, yeah maybe the King Lake area.....

But, any Road in Tassie is a great road, West Coast, North West Coast, down South - I kid you not.

Watch out for the fuel cost on Tassie's East Coast though - My favourite run is from a place called Bicheno through Scamanda to St Helens, far out.....
