Hey guys. I am looking at a 1995 S1.5 skyline at the moment. It is a friend of a friends car so i have the keys and have been checking it over very closely. The car is an R33 but has had an R34 engine put in it. The R34 engine is connected to the car through the original R33 wiring harness and ecu. It seems to run fine (feels good to drive) but it has an idle problem (will stall when idling unless you give the accelerator a punch every now and then). I did some research and found that a common fix for this is to clean the ACC valve. So today thats exactly what i did only i found that the valve wasn't even plugged in to the wiring harness. The owner had told me previously (before i knew it was the AAC Valve) that this was due to the engine being an r34 engine. Anyway, I ignored this for the time being and removed the valve. It wasn't too dirty on the inside but i gave it a scrub anyway. I found that the solenoid had rusty looking stuff in it (obviously hasn't been used for ages) and I found bad rust and rusty water on the two "Small" hose connections (not the one running to the intercooler piping). I don't know if its normal for there to be fluids in this part of the engine but the fact that there is rust screams trouble to me. If anyone out there has more knowledge about why the solenoid was not plugged into the ECU and why there was rust in these pipes could they let me know. I am beginning to think it might be an idea to steer clear of this one. I can post pics if this description is not clear enough :nyaanyaa:

Get some pics and post them up... I don't think the rust would be a big problem (just give it a clean...)

I don't know why the valve would be unplugged, plug it in and see what happens, if it doesn't work theirs no reason that you can't just get an r33 one and put it on, i don't think they'll change from the R33 to the R34...

My one clogged up big-time a couple of years back, it was literally fused with black crud. In fact I'm taking it back off for antoher clean tomorrow as I'm starting to get the tell-tale stall when stopping too hard.

If you look in any of the coolant pipes you're going to find some form of corrosion I'm afraid.
