This track day is open to alot of other clubs..I heard about it through SSCC..

So wouldnt be surprised if all the spots are taken :P

Have to get in quick with these types of events

i emailed terry the other day and he told me there were no spots left.....what's the story?

Yeah all spots gone so its $200 for the day for those that got in.!! $200 for a open day is a bargain.

If you missed out come down for a free joy ride.

No cash has left my hands yet, Need some stuff done to the car and watching for the weather, I wont run at a 30Deg + day.

Bonks, will pop out at a minimum, but I am planning to drive.

Excellent - look forward to seeing you!

If it rains I will be there pay my $200 and take the place of the fags that are scared of a little wet weather. Either way I will be out on the day. I hope to do my thing and pay for a slot once the first car pops or looses it.

  • 2 weeks later...

Oh I WISH my car was going... would come down for the day anyway, but the boss is away and it's overtime for me in the morning... next one that is on someone please RING ME!!!!

2002 reunion, and I'm gonna miss it. :P

LOL, I can't believe it... B-man might even be there.

Bonkers, fatz, kero, OZ, there is not too many missing.

And the original stomping ground... shame EC hate drifting hey Fatz...

Top Gear crew will be filming before and after on the day - so maybe i will pick up the shitter pete - they would lovethat kind of shit.

10) We understand that the Top Gear guys will be on track up to 9AM and after 5PM doing filming. If they hang around please be nice to them as we may get some publicity for club level motorsport. If they sign on you will be permitted to take them as passengers. Who knows, you could end up a TV Star.
1) We have a full field of 50 cars now that those who have dropped out are replaced with those on standby.

2) Please make sure you bring the completed forms with you AND your CAMS license plus club member card. They should both be current. Some folks forget to insert the new bits.

3) Passengers only need to have filled in and signed the form, plus have the right helmet and clothes to get an armband from us at Garage 50. They should see Val Stewart, she is the pretty one, Drivers have to see me, the ugly old grump sitting next to her.

4) There will be no fuel available at the track as the stock on hand is reserved for BMW next week.

BYO please, It’s cheaper that way. Refuelling must be out the back of the garages. NO SMOKING !

5) Tony Thorne will be in charge of Pit Lane and will give a run down at the drivers briefing to cover the

new automatic lights around the track at flag points. If we get a radio call from the spotters on the hills

he can switch on yellow or red lights right around the circuit or just in one spot. It may replace flaggies

at club events one day so this will give you a chance to get used to it.

6) Age limit on passengers is 14 YO according to ARDC rules.

7) Experienced Drivers may ride as passengers in the one hour sessions to give helpful tips etc.

8) During those one hour passenger sessions only cars with passengers will be allowed out and no passengers in the half hour sessions. Those are for full speed work.

9) If your L2S or renewal license has not arrived from CAMS you should follow it up and get an email or fax to prove that it is in progress. They do have some problems in Melbourne HO. I cannot take your word for it I am afraid. Too many people have lied to me over the years.

10) We understand that the Top Gear guys will be on track up to 9AM and after 5PM doing filming. If they hang around please be nice to them as we may get some publicity for club level motorsport. If they sign on you will be permitted to take them as passengers. Who knows, you could end up a TV Star.

11) And now, the schedule, Lets’ assume that a bunch of you will be super keen, get there early, be all signed up and ready to go. We will do the driver briefing at 8.45 AM (not 9 AM) and have you ready to go out when Top Gear is finished.

Session 1 – 9 AM - 30 minutes for Race Cars with slicks IE The serious fast cars. (Type 1)

Session 2 – 9.30 AM – 30 minutes for Road Cars and those who wish to go with them. (Type 2)

Session 3 – 10 AM – 60 minutes for all cars to take passengers at reduced pace.

Session 4 – 11 AM – 30 minutes for Type 1 cars

Session 5 – 11.30 AM – 30 minutes for Type 2 cars

Session 6 – 12 noon – 60 minutes for all cars to take passenger rides

Also remember that at 12 .30 to 1 the Prod Sports folks are to break for lunch and their presentations.

Others who have paid for lunch may choose to eat between 12 and about 1.30 when the Caterers finish.

Session 7 – 1 PM – 30 minutes for type 2 cars (yes we swap them around after lunch)

Session 8 – 1.30 PM – 30 minutes for type 1 cars

Session 9 – 2 PM – 60 minutes for all cars to take passenger rides

Session 10 – 3 PM – 30 minutes for type 2 cars

Session 11 – 3.30 PM – 30 minutes for type 1 cars

Session 12 – 4.PM – 60 minutes for all cars to do final passenger rides.

5 PM close of proceedings on track.

That is a possible 6 hours on track if you can muster up enough passengers so bring fuel with you.

I intent to arrive at about 10 with the car ready to go, and pay my money once the first breakdown occurs. This is unless fatz cant find me a spot. Worst case the car stays in the car park and I get to go for a squirt with the boys.

    • And if you want more power, more reliably, and cheaper, go get the Aussie RB... The 4L Barra and put that in instead.
    • No cats will keep discolouring the rear bar. Sends white paint a weird yellow stain. Cut and polish normally gets it out, but you'll be doing that every fortnight I found.
    • Both heads will be equally reliable or unreliable depending on what you do to them.  Stock the RB26 head will flow more. You have access to the stock intake ITB manifold on the RB26 cheaply which flows really well(1000hp+).   Arguably more aftermarket support for RB26, though in Aus we love our RB30 SOHC heads too.    The only downsides to the RB26 head is if you have a VL commodore and want to keep the SOHC look.  Where you may have an issue is drilling out the rb30 block for the bigger head studs but if you are building a big power motor you'd probably put bigger studs on the SOHC head too.  This is just about finding a good machine shop, sometimes easier said than done.  RB30 head worked can make big power just like a Rb26 head, so really it actually more comes down to what your preference is for your car.  People now even making billet versions of both.
    • 2630s work perfectly well. There is something to be said for just using the 30 head, as it saves all the pain of the conversion, still makes tons of power, still sounds cool, etc etc. 2630 will obviously make more power again, but the differences are not stupidly big. It really depends on whether you're racing for sheep stations or not. If it's dead serious, then it's a 26 head. If it's just for fun, it could go either way. But the 26 head and the effort to get it set up, etc etc, is part of the fun.
    • I've been building a 26/30 for a few years now. I've had the head built with all the good stuff. I had a 32 gtr but blew it up and yes its all going into a vl but im looking for some advice from some RB nuts on pros and cons on putting a 26 head on a 30 bottom end is it worth it Works are as follows Head -Extensive porting 1mm oversized supertech valves Supertech double springs Supertech valve guides Supertech titanium retainers Tomei solid lifters Tomei 270 x 10.25 cams Head drain Bottom end series 2 rb30 block Cp ceramic coated pistons Eagle rods Romac balancer Oil restrictions  O ringed blah blah spent a fortune And will get a girdle because the 30s arent used to handling that much rpm Nitto billet oil pump Hypertune plenum 6boost mani Refurbed astra pump thats the cover for it in the boot I did have a precision 6262 but sold it because drag car life. Currently building the ass end full 4 link floater rear end with a 2 speed  But the dilemma i have is my mate rekens I should just stick with the 30 head for reliability. Has any one had any issues with mounting the 26 head ie compression blowing gaskets etc. Just looking for some advice from people who have gone down this route. Here's some photos. Blew the oil pump in the gtr and decided to rip the motor out at the time and do a full build only to find it had been a repairable write off so went down this path.
