I HATE AUTOBARN! Because they jack up the prices like crazy, staff seem to be more interested in V8's and they always have everything i need! I swear evrytime i go to the 20% off storewide sale that i'll never go back, but i do, why? Coz they annoyingly have what i need, and one shop has a hot blonde working there.

And to the guy with the Tezza... What in gods name were you thinking even driving anywhere near a suburb that has an Autobarn!!!

heard good stuff from my mates with jap cars and I was in there a bit for my GTR, so it made sense if they can do it in a **** they can do it in a Ferrari, after-all it is just a head unit right? *WRONG*

p.s. gold coast autobahn isnt in too shit a suburb, and gold coast car sound is close by too, and they had shitted up jobs for us before too anyway

Yeah, I've always found the Browns Plains store really helpful. If they don't know they have always been pretty honest with me.

Other than one bloke in car audio. But I only go to Northfield Moorooka now anyway...

depends on the autobarn.

if its virginia then you won't find the alarm. if its ipswich on tues/friday then you wont find the alarm either.

that said I do have images that I can share of one up north and the subsequent mess that followed.

  • 2 weeks later...

i must be the only person with a good results from autobarn. but then the autobarn in gympie has won the award for best autobarn in australia quite a few times. 1 guy that works there has a 400hp sr20 powered silvia, and the owner has owned a few skylines (i bought a remapped ecu off him for my 33) and he gave me the old tyres off his car cause he got new ones and the old ones still had about 80% tread.

never really had any issues ordering stuff in either.

and the previous owner was really good too. when i first got my pulsar i was putting my stereo in and the wires kept coming out of the plugs and i just snapped and threw it across the yard. so i went in the next day to buy a new one and the owner asked me why i was buying a new head unit (the other one was probably 6 months old, and rather expensive) and i told him what i had done and he said "just bring it back in and we will send it back and say it got damaged in transit and get it fixed under warranty for you." and they did.

ok not a skyline owner here so im not sure if you get the same treatment

but basically i hate most autobarns cause they dont know nothing about v8s everywhere i go i here them say

ow i own this and this and its got 500hp load of shit but i finally found only one autobarn that has it all

they give you good pricing they give you good service they know what there on about and if they dont they ring around for you

this dream autobarn is BROWNS PLAINS after a while of goin there i met the owner KEITH and he also owns the DYNOTUNZ store around the corner so if autobarn browns plains dont know they usually ring the guys down there at dynotunz and ask the mechanics

for instance before i knew the owner i used to get discounts and there marked price as it was was cheaper then moss street

now i know keith i got a b&m megashifter from there marked price 450 got it for 280 and they have a wide variety of people who know what there sayin and doin keith wont hire anyone who doesnt if they lie to him they get fired for spinning shit

i even got alarms and stereos done there and i swore i never would go back to an autobarn after all the f**k ups from nambour and caboulture but this one is gold i havent had any problems and i cant see the wiring in both cars and its been like that for a year

i say most autobarns are hopeless but one know there goods and im in bundaberg now and i still get keith to send me shit just because id rather wait 2 days for something then get rooted in the ass by someone else again

I think if you are looking for the mechanical bits and pieces you cant go past bursons, now that they have taken over coventry they have alot more stores around & I have found there service & pricing alot better then repco/autobarn/supercheap for off the st customers. Autobarn doesnt stock alot of stuff where I live. They do however have oils like royal purple and stuff that you cant get in alot of places off the shelf. There performance selection is crap & overpriced, with non brand name parts being sold for millions more then the same part sells for on ebay (which is why our local manager said he doesnt stock alot) There product knowledge can be decieving when you get told by a wholesaler they are the distributor for there product but youc all up and they have no idea what you are taking about, even with part number supplied. If you are looking for cheap gear with a walk around and gawk environment you cant go past supercheap for the goods. They have great buying power & will take back almost anything that has broken, even if its obvious its your fault. Although alot of there gear is dodgy I still use and abuse products of theres from 5 years ago, that smashed competitors in specials.

Bursons ftw ! Most stores are a straight to the point environment. I like repco also but the trade pricing is better at bursons for me. But if you want the cheap knockoff or overpriced brand name performance gear & dont trust the internet then autobarn will do it.

    • Wish I had this advice when I did my pump. It went in and out 3 or 4 times, and on the last time it snapped.
    • Tried them, they leaked. I also foolishly bought some random rubber ones that leaked too.  Genuine and not looked back.    As always though sample size of one, and I could have made a mistake installing them.
    • Technically still manual process to set it first time though
    • Shit job but not hard. I'd use a piece of wood to knock the plastic lid open to avoid damaging it, use a vacuum to clean up the fuel sender lid also so crap doesn't fall in. I'd probably do pump and filter at the same time since you're already in there, I reused my OEM sock after a quick clean since the one provided wasn't long enough. Could also hardwire your pump if you feel inclined.
    • Supercheap auto sell this: https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/pat-plusquip-fuel-tank-lock-ring-tool---universal-kit/SPO3564082.html I own this and if you HAVE PATIENCE you can remove it without snapping lines and generally being incredibly angry, then said at doing this job. Sadly I've removed the pump about 75,000 times over the years. I don't know if you're a large lad or a smaller lad but my advice to you as someone who is 185cm is if you are my height or smaller, is to sit in the boot and take your time. Yes you can put the seal on. The seal goes over the white thing/lid (you will see how it 'slots' in) then the whole assembly presses into the tank. then you screw the lock ring on. I spent so much time doing things the wrong way by trying to mount the seal into the tank first, then putting the white fuel hat on in the space provided. Put it together first then it'll all go in. But seriously be careful about removing the hoses AND where the removal tool is moving relative to the plastic pipes coming out of the lid when you've removed it. IT IS BRITTLE So brittle in fact I have two spare lids, and would recommend buying a spare and having it handy before attempting to do this. May as well throw https://justjap.com/products/deatschwerks-dw300-fuel-pump-nissan-s13-silvia-r32-r33-r34-skyline-c34-stagea?currency=AUD in the tank as well, as this uses all stock plugs and such. You may need to/strongly recommend you re-use your OEM fuel sock or use the one supplied with a length of hose so it sits at the stock height.
