During my younger years, I used to hit some insane speeds on the Old Pacific Hwy, and looking back on it, there is no other word to describe it than "insanity". Pure and simple. I don't even hit those speeds on the straight of Eastern Creek ugh.gif

Insanity.

Well you're older and wiser now...these kids are now where you were during your 'insane' days....theres nothing wrong with that...they'll learn and look back on it and think how stupid and dangerous they were....just like you are now...

If EC was open more often for off street drags we wouldn't have these issues...they should give car enthusiasts a safe environment to explore the limits of their cars...its riduculous at the moment....you wait 5 hours for 2 runs...no wonder they take it to the street!

Whenever I read articles like this its always "nissans' that cop it from the media.

I think holden and for run the newspapers! my mate had an acco that wasn't his fault, he was driving a black S15. The newspapers said "High Powered Nissan sports car". it was stock. though it was interesting they forgot to mention the 50 year old guy driving the brand new looking Volvo 5 cylinder turbo.

That is the problem, but that it costs a bit too. I don't mind the cost but don't always have the money t go blow $50 on EC all the time, and like you said the wait time is ridiculous.

Although I don't think it is likely to have solutions to street racing anytime soon, they defect and fine alot of people through these things I hear. How ELSE will they raise revenue if they stopped them racing on the street!:shake:

wanna race for pink slips? :D

pink slips don't mean jack. it's the blue rego slip that is the exchange of ownership. pink is just to show your car is roadworthy, but i guess with all the dodgey mods going on I can see how a pink slip would be more valuable then the rego paper.

OPH/Nasho has less light, corners (some sharp), blind spots everywhere, equally bad police presence, more crashes, narrow roads, downhills, foliage on the road, oncoming traffic.

PLEASE tell me why this is totally different to street racing or even less dangerous and OK to do in your eyes.

And no, I don't believe you travel 40 mins to drive along these roads at speed limit or within 15km/hour of the speed limit which is a relatively 'safe' speed.

And no, I don't believe most of you haven't participated in either of these events.

So apart from the *very* small percentage that own their cars only to speed on the track and otherwise just 'cruise', what the hell are you all talking about you hypocrites?

Don't try to put the blame on them for giving you a bad name, most of you are just as guilty (as some of you have admitted). And Blitz, I like how you try to single out the GTR as if cops can tell the difference between a R and a S.

Here here!!

I can't see the difference between street drags and OPH/nasho runs either...they're both as dangerous...just cause ones curvey and ones straight makes no difference...the same risk is involved with the same public (plus animals in the case of nasho/OPH) at risk....

there is risk in everything you do whilst in your car.

Illegal street runs or hitting a twisty bit of road. Both have their own dangers, and you take the risk when you do either.

Right now, illegal drag races have been highly glorified through the big screen and hence the attention from media and the authorities.
