Hi, all,

I have managed to gouge my front left wheel, thanks to the bloke who decided to occupy the lane I was driving in on Cambridge Street last night. Praise the son of rajab for factory Brembos - I missed him by a coat of paint. But the wheel copped it on the kerb!!

He had not anticipated the car ahead of us turning right - which I had. So I was passing him on the inside when he decided, without indicating, to pull over. Anchors on full, hand on horn, heart in mouth. He just carried on through!!!

It was so close. I actually got that sudden cold feeling in the stomach that I was about to hit him and I yelled out "Shiiiiiiii##t" involuntarily. (Near misses are almost as traumatic as being hit - I had the shakes and it took me half an hour to calm down!) :P

Despite stalling it, I went after him and it did not take long to catch up (Camry versus R34 GTR on high boost!!). He pulled into a side road and stopped and I got his details. He did apologise profusely.

Anyone got a spare 19" wheel, +22 offset, while I get this fixed?

Cheers.

hey man, that does sound pretty traumatic. Can you not just use the factory spare? i mean stock wheels are 18 inch sure there would not be to much of a problem running a 18 and three 19s for a few days? i mean i have run stock 16s on my gtr while waiting for a 17 to get polished. where are you getting the wheel repaired?

Thanks, Guys. I am expecting the wait for the wheel repair to be around three weeks. That was the situation a few months back, so I doubt it has changed. As Mike said, I do not want to drive around on different sizes for any length of time.

Meanwhile, my wife tells me not to be such a drama merchant :D - I did not hit him and nobody was hurt. She's right, I suppose. But if she had been in the car, she would have been screaming!!

Thanks for the suggestions. I will follow them up.

Cheers. :merli:

Just to let everyone know, because I said somewhere that my previous experience with Alliance Rim Repairs was that they would take 2 to 3 weeks. That is old news and things have changed!

I just dropped my damaged rim at Alliance Rim Repairs this morning. They will have it fixed for me to pick up on Friday, when I return from overseas, which is great! They have moved from Osbourne Park and are now at 2/25 Montgomery Way, Malaga.

They were really helpful.

Cheers. :(
