Finally got my UHF back, when I lived in the states I always had one on me while I was driving (got to be honest with you I always feel like I'm on the wrong side of the road here), I was wondering if you guys normally have them on when you drive and if so what channel do you usually "live on"?

Yea basti thats the one he was talking about, anyway I think it's always useful to keep one in my car so if anyway sees a Silver Skyline with last 3 numbers in his reg 234 (cant remember the first 3 for the life of me) give me a shout, I'm usually on channel 40 (It's nice listening to the bears, traffic updates, and non-sense)

my cb has the emergency channels blocked. i.e cops, ambos etc. im usually cruising on ch 14

What CB are you using? I'm just using a handy 5W the range is decent but I'm thinking of getting one for my car I'm just worried about where to place the antenna

I have a Uniden hand held (walki-talkie), always having it scanning through all channels, if i hear anything interesting I lock it on. However if i'm out and about with my mates who are in other cars i'm usually on channel 6.

JamesK - in regards to the antenna - possibly try an internal antenna. Just as an idea...

We SAU guys should elect a UHF channel, so we can have a shout out to other SAU people we see on the road... Any suggestions?

Haha that is exactly what I do, I really like channel 40 tho especially when they tell you were the traffic jams, bubble blowers, and bears are. I was thinking along the same lines as you Mark but how many SAU people have UHF's? And to make every1 stay on the same channel.....I'm up for that, how about you guys?

Out of curiosity which & how much was your Uniden Mark?

40ch UHF's are hard to find a empty station, and when driving they dont stay empty for long.

i'll see if i can get you 2morro Jamesk

In the northern suburbs ch3 has always something on but sometimes gets polluted by crap. Ch40 in my area is pretty quiet until you get near the ring road and hume highway.

My uniden is a basic walki talkie - 0.7W - came in a pack of 2 with charger and hands free with voice activation, I think it was around $150.00. Mainly used for road trips when traveling in multiple cars, helps save on mobile phone bills and if there is no mobile phone signal - because i usually travel to the mountains for some twisty action.

Cool I got a 5W off ebay, skeptical at first but got a lot of good review for it, it's a little bit complicated but I'm pretty sure it's because I'm a complete noob I like it

Bullbar is a complete tosser, he uses a big set up and bounces off repeaters so he is heard all over melbourne, im based in dandenong but get him clear as day in geelong and out past calder, there is another guy that is sometimes on really early who calls him self soprano, funny thing is if everyone ignored them they would get bored and go away (as most ppl with intellect of 9 yr old does) but they keep feeding them so they hang around like monkey's.

    • I’d love to find some where that can recover the dashes to look brand new and original. Mine has a very slight bubble, nothing compared to some I’ve seen though
    • $170K. I asked one of the guys there as a joke if that price was just for the passenger seat as it was where the price sheet was... he tried really hard to crack a smile 😄 He also mentioned that every single part of the car was inspected and either restored or replaced with a new or as new part, or made from scratch. The interior was incredible, every inch like a new car.
    • Time for a modernisation, throw out the AFM, stock O2s, ECU into the e-waste bin. Rip out the cable throttle, IACV, pedal, etc. into the scrap metal bin. DBW, e-throttle, modern ECU, CANbus wideband, and the thing will drive better than when it left the factory.
    • I agree, don't go trusting those trims. As I said, first step is to put the logger away, and do the basics in diagnosis.   I spend plenty of time with data loggers. I also spend plenty of time teaching "technicians" why they need to stop using their data loggers, and learn real diagnostics.   The amount of data logs I play with would probably blow most people away. I don't just use it to diagnose. I log raw CAN data too, as a nice chunk of my job is reverse engineering what automotive manufacturers are doing.
    • I'm aware, but unless you're actually seeing the voltage the ECU is seeing and you're able to verify the sensors are actually working I find it hard to just trust STFT/LTFT. I will say, logging the ECU comes naturally to me because it's one of the lowest effort methods of diagnosis and I do similar things in my day job all the time. Staring at 20+ charts looking for something that isn't quite right isn't for everyone. NDS1 allows you to log almost everything so that's normally what I do and then sort out the data later.
