Hey,

I'm moving to Perth soon from London, December actually and the skyline is my dream car but the R34 GTR is out of budget at the minute so was looking at R33's ideally a GTR but I was getting confused with the GTT, GTS versions that available as well, I was hoping you guys could give me a quick run down?

Thanks,

If its an R33 GTSt then buy locally... there's so many of them here that no one who wants to sell one can seem to give one away. You'll save maybe $500 by importing one. An R33 GTSt Series 1 is worth about 10-13,000 and a series 2 is worth between 13 and 16. An R33 GTR will run you about AUD$25,000 for an early model. an R34 GTt will cost you about 20,000 and an R34 GTR anywhere from 40,000 upwards.

If you want anything other than an R33 GTSt or an R32 GTSt, then there's fairly substantial savings to be had by importing. However there's a 3 month wait for one to be delivered to your door from the moment you buy one. If you planned forward far enough you could buy one in Japan right now and start the import process so your car is waiting for you or arrives here around the same time as you.

Guys in teh UK have a very big advantage over the aussies when it comes to buying cars in Japan due to your strong currency.

Thanks very much for that info :-) Shall look into starting the import process in the next month possibly to see how much I could save,

hey i just imported my r34 GTT from japan.. going through a company called imports101 they handle all the compliance etc to bring it up to WA standards.. for about 1200 dollars they look for your car get a mechanic to check the car out (see if the speedo has been turned back) and send you pictures. they make you pay in installments which in my case was easier on the pocket. they do every thing the only thing you have to do is drive it home hehe

hope this helps

Yeah I have a GTT, I love it, in fact, it is a turbo, manual sedan... Pretty few and far between... Great things about sedans is that they are that bit more practical, and they attracted less attention from the boys in blue.. However, for a similar price, I'd nearly buy a manual or 8 speed CVT V35 Skyline.. :P

33GTR would also be a decent option, just depends what your goal/intention is really... Each to their own I suppose..

I've decided on those two actually, either a R34 GTT - think they look really good with a nismo kit or an R33 GTR.....so any info on these two or personal experiences would be great!! dunno whether I should get one imported or picked up locally...

Cheers :-)

Just a few more questions lads...sorry for all the persistence, getting confused between all the model prefixes..had a look on the net, not much info..i.e.

ECR33,34? - Are these different to the normal skylines?

HR32, 33? - Again, what does that mean?

BCNR33? -

^lol... i am not the one to answer that because if i tried everyone would get confused...

anyway, if i was you and you're moving here soon... i wouldn't bother importing seeing as though the Aussie $$$ is buying crap Japanese Yen at the moment...

buy locally you'll be saving money now i think
