this sucks, it's not improving yet. looks like I might cancel my late november trip :D spewing I was looking forward to a few weeks in japan. :)

yep, looks like I'm going to pull the pin on november. I have free flight using points on either qantas or JAL but that doesn't mean much if everything else is 40% more expensive. really pissed as nismo festival is my favourite thing to do car wise in japan. makes tokyo autosalon seem a bit lame. I will be still going in jan but might cut that trip shorter too. in fact I may still go in november but just do 1 week instead of the usual 2-3... bummer.

it all works on speculation and sense of security so even the most educated in the feild can only guess. Economics is ghey and retarded.

As far as a recovering AUD, the `experts` have said late this year then changed to early next year and the latest Ive read now is March next year... but I think they just change their stories to suit whats happening at the moment and they really dont have a clue what they are talking about :)

sorry guys, i sound like a bit of a an arse for saying this.

but for someone like myself who is in japan and trying to save as much money for a house etc etc as possible, and is sending yen back to oz , and who is looking to buy/build once back mid 2009.... i hope it stays this way for a bit longer.. the bank her was offering 100yen -> 66.12AUD today... thats awesome fore those of us in japan. :)

however

really really bad for those with AUD .. :(

you are 100% correct. :(

anyway mate, if you need anything from ebay AU I can help out! lol just pay me in yen!

hey,we have had it good for a long time. for over 4 years I've been travelling to japan twice a year and spending up big every time. I don't think on any of those trips the dollar bought less than 85 yen and for probably half of them it was up over 95 yen. Plus I've bought plenty of bits and cars and sent so much $ to japan to hold as yen it's not funny. We are going to take some pain for a while there is no doubt about it and it can get a bit depressing but hopefully things will come back at least above 85 again. think of all the poor exporters who have just had years of not benig able to sell bugger all. they will be booming now as all their products just got nearly 40% cheaper for their japanese and US customers.

Try 57.32

About time I say..time to buy some property in oz!

1.00 AUD

=

57.3232 JPY

Australia Dollars Japan Yen

1 AUD = 57.3232 JPY 1 JPY = 0.0174450 AUD

About time I say..time to buy some property in oz!

I dunno man... Australia has been surfing a JDM spec property bubble for over 10 years, i think the property party is over! Regardless of how cheap the dollar is.

I just wish I had some spare yen to throw into my Aussie mortgage. :ninja:

damn was about to write its currently at 57.6

why did i send my million yen last week :P wish I waited. could have made another 2000aud :):bunny:

Making over $100k p/a now, hehe. Wish I actually had some money to send home (though I did send 400,000 back on Friday @.66 - was pissed when it dropped a few hours later).

Nice financial crisis so far.

I dont mind it so much in the mid to high 70's but man if this nonsense continues I'm gonna pull the pin on my January TAS/Ski holiday...58.3 *gulp*

I haven't really noticed it yet but this must surely have an effect on the "tuning industry" Given that a lot of us by our gear from Nengun, Greenline etc there must be a follow on effect. My plans for the brake upgrade and the stroker kit will be reviewed and probably put on hold for 12 months. Good news for the mortgage I guess.

yeah I thank jeebus that I made hay while the sun shined. but I think the dream is dead now and we'll be talking about the 'good old days' for a few years to come...

I've got 2 trips planned in the next few months but I might can the november one and see what happens. maybe shorten the jan one a bit too.

Yeah I basically do what nengun and greenline do except cheaper (lower cut for me) and the drop in business is just crazy. Looking at buying a cheap ps3 and just locking my self in a room for a couple of months to save money and wait for the exchange rates to get halfway normal :D

BTW: currently at 68yen... still not enough to get any business flowing though :(

    • I believe there was a similar one posted by @duggyphresh. They were re-routing their battery positive cable in the way I am also trying to achieve. Sorry, I’m new to this forum, so was a bit late to the party by a few months and so reignited the old thread, as I wanted to know how they got on with doing it.
    • Wasn't there a thread on this very subject just a few weeks ago?
    • Hi all! Looking to relocate the battery to the trunk of an R34 GTT. I want to do it using as many stock GTR components as I can (including the harness protectors from the 34 GTR that run underneath along the chassis to the engine bay). So far I’ve purchased the battery tray from a 33 GTR, as the captive weld nuts are already there just asking to be used. There is also the slight issue of now having to relocate the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU, which in GTT’s sits right above where the battery will then sit on the tray. Has anyone already achieved this, and if you have any pics that you wouldn’t mind sharing? It would be great to see how others have done it and where you put them, as there are countless holes in the parcel shelf panel to potentially use. Just trying to get some ideas bounced around, and to help uncover any potential problems I may encounter by  my choice of location. TIA for any help!
    • Brand was ard.   I also threw a brand new battery at it and beefed up the wire from the alternator to battery and added an extra earthing point from the battery
